(Minghui.org) Despite the Chinese regime's ongoing persecution and misinformation campaign against Falun Dafa, everyone in my factory knows me to be a person of integrity and a respectable Falun Dafa practitioner.
I have been a purchasing officer, responsible for the procurement of inbound materials, for the past 10 years. My position entails the stringent analysis of hundreds of materials, ranging from larger items like steel and machinery, to smaller things like towels and soap. Knowing that I adhere to Falun Dafa's principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance, management trusts me with this position. They appreciate my responsible attitude of always doing what's right for the company.
It's really quite a tough job. In today's China, bribery, although illegal, is a common and expected practice. Due to my insistence in not following this degenerate trend, I have annoyed some people.
Some companies attempt to sell us substandard products by trying to bribe me. I never accept their bribes, and just turn them and their substandard products away.
Just three days after assuming this position, the CEO of a major supplier showed up at my home with an expensive gift. I welcomed his visit, but politely declined his gift, explaining that it was because I follow the standards of Falun Dafa. By declining the gift, he knew I couldn't be bribed. I told him that the best way to build a good relationship with me was to focus on good quality.
Initially my wife complained to me, saying I wouldn't be popular if I didn't accept their bribes. I told her that Falun Dafa practitioners must be truthful.
Because I'm the senior purchasing officer, suppliers know that, to strike a deal with me, their products need to pass my inspection. Many suppliers are willing to go to any lengths to bribe me, such as attempting to give me expensive gift cards, holidays, tours, and feasts. They even attempt to bribe my management. I simply tell them that they don't need to give me gifts, because I'm a Falun Dafa practitioner, and I treat everyone fairly.
Proper quality control was nonexistent in my plant before I assumed this position. Through extensive research, I compiled, revised, and standardized more than 100 different procedures to conduct quality analyses. Equipped with proper standards with which to assess product quality, I treat all suppliers fairly and do my job properly.
Different suppliers often tell me, “A good person like you is rare in this society.” Some told me that, although their products are of top quality, they still have to buy expensive gifts for the management and purchasing officers of other factories they approach. If they don't, those factories pester them with trivial issues about their products and make things difficult--until they get an expensive-enough gift.
I tell my suppliers about the persecution of Falun Dafa and how the Chinese regime attempts to demonize Falun Dafa through a misinformation campaign of slanderous news reports. The majority of my suppliers renounced their communist affiliations after becoming clear on how much of a monstrosity the Chinese regime is.
I once rejected a shipment of steel worth more than a million yuan (about 160,000 USD). The boss of this steel company requested my address. Knowing that he planned to try to give me some expensive gift to get me to sign a deal with him, I politely declined his request.
The next day, I discovered that he had added 500 yuan (about 80 USD) credit to my mobile phone. I went to him right away and returned the money. It was also a chance for me to clarify the truth about the persecution to him.
On average, I save more than 40,000 yuan (about 6,500 USD) every month for our plant. One of the executive managers of production once told me, “You're the most honest person in this plant.” During a meeting, another executive manager said to everyone present, “It would be good if all of you could behave like him (referring to me).”
Recently, I've started to catch the employee's shuttle bus to and from work. That way I get to clarify the facts about the persecution to all my colleagues.
