(Minghui.org) Falun Gong practitioners gathered in front of the Chinese Embassy in Sofia, the capital city of Bulgaria, on July 20, 2015, to protest the ongoing persecution in China.
Practitioners' peaceful protest in front of the Chinese Embassy
The practitioners handed out pamphlets with information about the practice to police officers and passersby, and displayed Falun Gong banners that were visible to the staff of the embassy.
Every year since the practice was introduced in Bulgaria in 2001, local practitioners have held events in Sofia, and a peaceful protest at the Chinese Embassy, to commemorate the beginning of the repression of the practice in China, which started on July 20, 1999.
The national Bulgarian media Standartnews and BGNES, among others, reported on the event and interviewed practitioners at the event.
In a video interview for the Bulgarian news agency BGNES, the coordinator of the event and representative of the Bulgarian Falun Dafa Association, Milena Atanassova, explained that the practitioners had gathered at the Chinese Embassy to protest the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners in China, which has continued for 16 years.
She also mentioned that the Chinese Communist Party continues to orchestrate the illegal organ harvesting from living Falun Gong practitioners in China, in spite of demands from the international community to stop this atrocity.
Ms. Atanassova noted that the European Parliament issued a resolution calling for an end to the persecution, followed by a resolution by the Canadian parliament. The U.S. Congress will soon decide on a similar resolution.
