(Minghui.org) A total of 394 Falun Gong practitioners from Handan City, Hebei Province have filed criminal complaints against Jiang Zemin between July 10 and July 27, 2015, according to reports compiled by the Minghui website.
The practitioners charge the former Chinese dictator with initiating the brutal suppression of Falun Gong, and hold him responsible for the tremendous suffering inflicted upon them by his campaign. The criminal complaints were mailed to the Supreme People's Court and Supreme People's Procuratorate.
Many of these practitioners recounted how Falun Gong returned them to health and gave them a new outlook on life. Their dream to live a healthier and happier life, however, was shattered when Jiang Zemin launched a nationwide campaign to eradicate the practice in 1999.
For simply refusing to give up their belief, they were arrested, detained, tortured, and had their homes ransacked and personal belongings seized by the communist authorities. Many also saw their families implicated, and some were also forced to pay huge fines.
The Handan practitioners who filed criminal complaints include people from all walks of life, including white-collar workers, retired officials, teachers, police officers, public servants, medical doctors, and blue-collar workers. A few selected cases are listed below.
Mr. Chen Zhiqiang: Sent to Forced Labor, Tortured
Mr. Chen Zhiqiang (陈志强), 67, was twice arrested and sentenced to forced labor in 2002 and 2012.
He was tortured in police custody. An officer hit his head with a wooden club, resulting in bruises around his eyes. He was also immobilized in a metal chair, cuffed and shackled, for 18 hours without food or water.
In the Handan Forced Labor Camp, inmates were ordered to allow him only ten minutes for his meal, and removed his bowl when the time was up.
Ms. Xu Jixin: Intensive Brainwashing
Ms. Xu Jixin (徐继新), 60, a medical doctor, was arrested in October 2000 for peacefully appealing for the right to practice Falun Gong in Beijing. She was suspended by the hospital upon her release for one-and-a-half years before being allowed to work again.
She was arrested at the hospital in 2005 and forced to go through intensive brainwashing. The guards deprived her of sleep.
Her family spent a fortune to have her released. Her husband became extremely depressed and frightened. Pressured by local authorities, he once beat his wife until she passed out.
Ms. Wang Pizhen and Mr. Wang Qintang: 30,000 Yuan seized by Police
Ms. Wang Pizhen (王丕珍) and Mr. Wang Qingtang (王清堂) are both in their seventies. They were arrested multiple times.
Ms. Wang was once detained for six days and deprived of food and water the entire time.
Police ransacked the couple's home twice and seized personal belongings. In particular, during a raid in October 2001, police confiscated their printer, valued at over 13,000 yuan, and more than 30,000 yuan in cash and bank deposits.
Ms. Yin Jianwen: Arrested for Peaceful Appeal
Ms. Yin Jianwen (尹建稳), 61, was first arrested on December 25, 2000 for peacefully appealing for justice for Falun Gong in Tiananmen Square, Beijing.
She was arrested and taken to the Handan Liaison Office in Beijing, where she was strip-searched. She was handcuffed to a heating pipe for two nights and one day.
She was arrested again in July 2008 and taken to the Hebei Province Forced Labor Camp, where she was beaten, forced to perform hard labor without pay, and sit on a “small stool” (used as a torture device).
Mr. Li Yuxin: Tortured in Forced Labor Camp
Mr. Li Yuxin (李玉新) is a former employee of the Handan Iron and Steel Group.
He was harassed, monitored, and tortured in a forced labor camp for 18 months beginning in 2009.
Background
In 1999, Jiang Zemin, as head of the Chinese Communist Party, overrode other Politburo standing committee members and launched the violent suppression of Falun Gong.
The persecution has led to the deaths of many Falun Gong practitioners in the past 16 years. More have been tortured for their belief and even killed for their organs. Jiang Zemin is directly responsible for the inception and continuation of the brutal persecution.
Under his personal direction, the Chinese Communist Party established an extralegal security organ, the “610 Office,” on June 10, 1999. The organization overrides police forces and the judicial system in carrying out Jiang's directive regarding Falun Gong: to ruin their reputations, cut off their financial resources, and destroy them physically.
Chinese law allows for citizens to be plaintiffs in criminal cases, and many practitioners are now exercising that right to file criminal complaints against the former dictator.
