(Minghui.org) The 26th SCI (Service Civil International) Penang Peace Run, an event to benefit special social groups, was held in Taman Perbandaran Pulau Pinang Park on September 6, 2015.
A new activity was introduced this year, the SCI Penang Peace Walk. The Falun Dafa Association of Malaysia was invited to lead the 1.5 km Peace Walk, which was in addition to the regular 6 km runs that featured 6 male and 3 female age groups..
The Falun Dafa Association participated in the event by featuring the Divine Land Marching Band, a Dragon Dance, a Falun Dafa Exercise Demonstration, and a Waist Drum Performance.
More than 1000 people and dignitaries participated in the Peace Walk.The Falun Dafa Association of Malaysia led the SCI Penang Peace Walk in Penang City.
Mr. Athimulam Arjunan, president of the SCI Penang Chapter, presented the Falun Dafa Association a certificate of appreciation.
Organizing Chairman of the event Mr. R. M. Ravichandar thanked the Falun Dafa Association at the awards ceremony: “Please give the Falun Dafa group a warm round of applause! They traveled a long distance from Kuala Lumpur to participate in today's World Peace Day event. We also remember that they came last year, too. I invite Mr. Athimulam Arjunan, president of the SCI Penang Chapter, to present the Certificate of Appreciation to Ms. Linda Su. Thank you, Falun Dafa!” said Mr. Ravichandar.
“We wish to see you again at all peace events!” he added.
Dr. Anwar Fazal, former Senior Regional Advisor with the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) and a leading international civil society activist, gave the Falun Dafa entry high marks.
Dr. Anwar Fazal, a leading international civil society activist who has contributed much in areas of consumerism, health, human rights, and social ethics, participated in the Peace Walk.
“This is truly beautiful! Falun Dafa's performance is outstanding. Music is an important aspect of life, as is order. I am very happy to have them participate in this event with the many other groups. This is very good. We are moving toward better social awareness.”
“I feel peace and serenity in Falun Dafa's music,” said Ms. Sugiya and her partner Nadarajan (left), two police officers on duty during the Peace Run and Peace Walk.
Mr. Lokman Haikal, champion of the A Group, commented on the Falun Dafa music during the Peace Run: “We enjoyed the music very much. When I was running, the music let me feel serene and happy.”
Mr. Shanmugam, Peace Run participant, said, “It's super! This is the first time I've heard (this music). I must say it was very good! It was great!”
Ms. Piyachart Maikaow, reporter for the Bangkok Post newspaper, praised Falun Dafa's music.
Ms. Chen Yiying, a Chinese in Penang, said it was good fortune to see Falun Dafa.
Ms. Lyna and her husband Iskandar both liked the Divine Land Marching Band's performance.
