(Minghui.org) “I missed my daughter day and night when she was being held in a labor camp in 2003 for her belief in Falun Gong. But I was utterly shocked when I got a phone call notifying me of her death on June 4, 2003,” wrote Hu Huayong about her daughter, Guan Ge.
Ms. Guan Ge was incarcerated in Shibalihe Forced Labor Camp in Zhengzhou, Henan Province.
Ms. Hu, a resident of Shenyang, Liaoning Province, recently filed a criminal complaint against Jiang Zemin, former head of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), who initiated the persecution of Falun Gong in 1999. She urged the Supreme People's Procuratorate and the Supreme People's Court to bring Jiang to justice for his abuse of power in orchestrating the persecution of Falun Gong in China, which led to her daughter's death 12 years ago.
Ms. Hu wrote, “I went to the Number Two Hospital in Zhengzhou and saw Guan Ge's remains. Her body had many cuts and bruises. Her eyes were open, and there was blood on her mouth. There was a big bump and cuts on her head.”
“I noticed a big bump and a deep gouge in her head when I put new clothes on her in the funeral home. Her ears had been hit so hard that they had collapsed. There was a small piece of tissue missing on her left arm, and a large bump on the back of her neck. A three-centimeter-long purple scar was visible on her lower back, and her entire left leg was bruised. Her hands were tightly clenched into fists. In my opinion, these signs suggest that my daughter had been brutally tortured in the labor camp.
“When we attempted to take photos of her body, the police on site grabbed our camera and never returned it. They had her body hastily cremated, disregarding all proper procedures.”
She recalled her daughter's life, saying, “My daughter was born in Shenyang, Lianoning Province, in 1967. She graduated from the Law Department of Jilin University. After she started practicing Falun Gong in July 1994, she became healthy and more kindhearted. She was always ready to help others.
“She married Geng Sa, a Ph.D. student in Beijing, in 1998. When Jiang Zemin initiated the persecution of Falun Gong in 1999, my daughter and other practitioners went to Tiananmen Square to appeal for the right to practice Falun Gong.
“She and several other practitioners did the Falun Gong exercises together in the Beijing Botanical Garden on December 24, 1999. The police arrested them and detained Guan Ge for a month.
“Her husband Geng Sa graduated in 2000. He was asked, 'Do you want a Ph.D. degree certificate or Falun Gong?' He answered 'I want Falun Gong'. He was not given the degree certificate, and was not allowed to go abroad as a result. With few options left, he returned to Henan Teacher's College, from where he had first graduated. The couple got jobs there and worked well.
"The Xinxiang police in Henan arrested Guan Ge on the evening of May 29, 2001. While she was in a detention center, her father passed away. She was not allowed to attend his funeral.
“The police took her to Shibalihe Forced Labor Camp for a three-year incarceration in September 2001. She was tortured in a variety of ways, including twice being tied very tightly with a thin rope around the neck, connecting to the wrists behind the back, with increasing pressure, commonly called the 'tying the ropes’ torture.
Torture Reenactment: Tying the ropes
“She once told me over the phone that the camp guards locked up eight determined Falun Gong practitioners to try to force them to renounce their beliefs. The guards assigned three drug addicts to monitor each of them. They were not allowed to speak. One can only imagine how agonizing and miserable that was. Despite torture and pressure, Guan Ge never wavered.”
In 1999, Jiang Zemin, as head of the Chinese Communist Party, overrode other Politburo standing committee members and launched the violent suppression of Falun Gong.
Over the past 16 years, more than 3,800 Falun Gong practitioners have been confirmed tortured to death. The actual toll is likely higher, because such information is tightly censored in China. More have been tortured for their belief and even killed for their organs. Jiang Zemin is directly responsible for the inception and continuation of the brutal persecution.
Under his personal direction, the Chinese Communist Party established an extralegal security organ, the 610 Office, on June 10, 1999. The organization overrides police forces and the judicial system in carrying out Jiang's directive regarding Falun Gong: to ruin their reputations, cut off their financial resources, and destroy them physically.
Chinese law allows for citizens to be plaintiffs in criminal cases, and many practitioners are now exercising that right to file criminal complaints against the former dictator.
