(Minghui.org) I started my phased retirement in 2014 and ran into a dilemma immediately. My manager offered me a high-level position but, to my surprise, another person was also promised the same position. This put everyone involved in an awkward situation.

I thought: I am a Dafa practitioner. When facing conflicts, I should search within. This just means that I would make less money and do a bit more work. I need to conduct myself as a Dafa practitioner and let go of my attachment to personal gain and money.

I decided to take a lower position and also assured my manager that this would not affect my work performance. My manager was moved to tears. My human resource manager also praised me.

This wasn’t the first time that I let others take a higher position. When there was an opening for a better position in 2003, I decided not to apply and let my colleague have it. Ten years later, this is still talked about at the company, and everyone had a chance to witness how a Dafa practitioner conducts herself.
