(Minghui.org) Several Falun Gong practitioners in Shenzhen, Guandong Province were harassed by local authorities for filing criminal complaints against former Chinese Communist Party leader Jiang Zemin, who ordered the brutal persecution of Falun Gong that has lasted sixteen years so far.
One of them was Ms. Li Dan, who was harassed to the point that she had to leave home to avoid arrest and further abuse.
Taoyuan police and members of Ms. Li's residential committee went to her home three times on September 4, 2015. Officer Li Xiaomao demanded that she go with them to the police station because she had filed a criminal complaint against Jiang Zemin.
When Ms. Li refused, Li Xiaomao threatened that the police would come up with a method to force her to go. After officers harassed her for the third time that day, Ms. Li left home to avoid arrest.
Six officers, including Li Xiaomao, returned to Ms. Li’s home the next day, but found only her parents, who are in their eighties. Ms. Li’s daughter and her husband returned late at night, saw the police, and became frustrated. “You don't arrest criminals,” she told them, “but you harass and arrest good people. My mother had to leave home to avoid this persecution. I want my mother back home!”
Prior Persecution, Labor Camp Term
Because she practices Falun Gong, Ms. Li was once held at a forced labor camp, held in brainwashing facilities for a year, and had her home ransacked by police three times. Her husband works out of town, so she took care of her elderly parents and children by herself and worked to support the family.
While she was detained, her mother suffered a stroke and could no longer take care of herself.
Background
In 1999, Jiang Zemin, as head of the Chinese Communist Party, overrode other Politburo standing committee members and launched the violent suppression of Falun Gong.
The persecution has lead to the deaths of many Falun Gong practitioners over the past 16 years. More have been tortured for their belief and even killed for their organs. Jiang Zemin is directly responsible for the inception and continuation of the brutal persecution.
Under his personal direction, the Chinese Communist Party established an extralegal security organ, the 610 Office, on June 10, 1999. The organization overrides the police and judicial system in carrying out Jiang's directive regarding Falun Gong: to ruin their reputations, cut off their financial resources, and destroy them physically.
Chinese law allows citizens to be plaintiffs in criminal cases, and many practitioners are now exercising that right to file criminal complaints against the former dictator.
