(Minghui.org) At least 9 Falun Gong practitioners were arrested and 3 cases submitted to the Gulou District Procuratorate between July 29 and August 28, 2015. One is being tried in Fujian Province.
Since 1999, Chinese authorities have arbitrarily arrested and imprisoned Falun Gong practitioners for their belief. The outcomes of these trials are often predetermined by the 610 Office, an extralegal agency created by the top Communist Party leadership specifically to eradicate Falun Gong in China.
Ms. Lin Youmei from Zhangping was illegally arrested by Domestic Security police at around 11 p.m. on July 29, 2015. She was taken to the Zhangping City Detention Center on July 31.
Ms. Dai Sanlian from Changting County was arrested at her home by five officers from the Zhuotian Town Police Station on August 10, 2015. Ms. Liu Yanmei from Changting County was also arrested.
Ms. Dai and Ms. Liu are held in the Changting County Detention Center.
Ms. Guo Bizhen from Fuzhou City was arrested by officers from the Huada Police Station on August 25, 2015 for distributing informational materials about the persecution of Falun Gong. The police ransacked her home and confiscated Falun Gong books, computers, printers, and other personal items. She was taken to the Fuzhou City No. 2 Detention Center the next day.
Five female practitioners from Fuan City were arrested by officers from the Fuan City Domestic Security Division on August 11 and 12, 2015. The police ransacked their homes and interrogated them.
The five practitioners are Ms. Xiao Liying, Ms. Guo Yihua, Ms. Pan Jinrong, Ms. Guo Ruizhu, and Ms. Zheng Tuanrong.
Ms. Xiao, Ms. Guo Yihua, and Ms. Zheng were released on probation after several days of detention. Ms. Pan and Ms. Guo Ruizhu are still detained.
The arrests were ordered by the Fujian Province 610 Office. Officers from the Ningde City Domestic Security Division and Ningde City 610 Office also participated in the arrests.
Three practitioners' cases were submitted for the third time to the Gulou District Procuratorate on August 19, 2015 without any new evidence. The three practitioners are Ms. Lin Meifang, Ms. Zhang Shuilian, and Ms. Wang Zhumei.
The first two cases were submitted on April 29 and May 28, 2015, respectively, and were rejected by the Procuratorate.
The defendants' lawyer filed a complaint with the Procuratorate against Fuzhou City police officers from in early July 2015 for violating the practitioners' right to counsel.
The lawyers demanded that the Procuratorate review the justification for the arrests and dismiss the three cases. The lawyer presented the same arguments before the Procuratorate on August 24.
The trial of practitioner Ms. Li Yaping is scheduled to continue in Jinan District Court on September 8, 2015. During the first session on August 20, Ms. Li’s lawyer pleaded not guilty.
