(Minghui.org) I was paralyzed for thirteen years, but could walk again after three months of practicing Falun Dafa.
I live in the rural area of Ji'An County, Jilin Province. I became paralyzed in 1985 and was bedridden throughout my youth.
My parents tried everything they could possibly think of to help me, used up all their savings and borrowed a large sum of money, but my condition worsened. They worked in the fields and came home at noon to take care of me. Still, I had bedsores, was incredibly thin, was deeply depressed and wished that death would take me.
My parents began to practice Falun Dafa in 1998, and they became healthy of body and mind. My mother asked me to learn Dafa, but I did not believe that it would do any good for a person in my condition.
She offered to hold the Dafa book for me so that I could read. To make her feel better I agreed to read this book. I read one page, then closed my eyes for a rest, then continued to read. After I read one lecture, I did not feel tired any longer.
Mom asked me to take a rest and I actually slept for about five hours straight for the first time in a long time. She worried that I had died and checked if I was breathing. After I woke up, she fed me two tablespoons of water and I swallowed it. I had not been able to eat or drink for several days. The next morning, I felt a little better.
I could hold the book after I had read lecture three. After I finished the nine lectures, I could turn my body on my own. When I could sit up, I did the sitting meditation. My body changed and I was no longer bedridden in less than three months.
I burst into tears and had no words to express my gratitude to Dafa. I did the exercises daily, and after some time I could do household chores, such as cooking and cleaning. I also ventured out to the streets and just kept walking.
When Dafa was banned in 1999, I could not understand it. I wanted to go to Beijing to appeal for Falun Dafa, but we had no money. So I wrote four letters to Jiang Zemin, the former head of the Chinese Communist regime, and told him that I could walk again after I practiced Dafa.
My letters drew the attention of the authorities. The directors and cadres of the police departments personally investigated my claim of returning to good health. Police officers gathered at my home. They wanted to confiscate our Dafa book, but my father tightly held the books in his arms.
We told them about my paralysis and that our story could be corroborated by anyone living in this village. They listened to the entire story and when I had finished, they decided to leave us alone.
