(Minghui.org) My wife, a Falun Dafa practitioner, recently had major surgery after suffering a cerebral hemorrhage. She was in a coma for more than 10 days afterward. I was deeply distressed and my righteous thoughts were interfered with from time to time.
A younger Dafa practitioner shared his understanding on the Fa with me, which helped to strengthen my righteous thoughts. I would like to share some of his comments from the email he sent to me.
As practitioners we are willing to help others unconditionally, but this practitioner believed that contributing money in order to “help” should only be considered as a last resort, as it could heighten our attachments and reliance on receiving the money.
However, he worried that I might have thought that was too harsh of a response, so he collected funds from friends to help pay my wife's hospital fees.
He later realized that he was wrong to have collected that money for us, believing that it would have been more beneficial if he had pointed out our attachments and helped us with righteous thoughts.
He felt that, if he hadn't helped with the money, we wouldn't have been able to afford to go to another hospital in search of treatment. When the doctors in the first hospital declared that my wife’s condition could not be treated, if there had been no funds available to go a larger hospital, then the attachment of dependency on modern medicine might have been avoided and my wife might have chosen to ask Master for help.
The young practitioner reminded me that Dafa practitioners don’t have illnesses. Master has said there is a being in another dimension, and once that being is removed, the illness symptoms will disappear.
Hospital treatments or medication cannot destroy that being. They can only delay the illness and push it back to a later date.
He was adamant in his email: “Don’t listen to the doctors! Don’t think that the ‘illness’ is fatal. It's not real. It's an attempt to touch your heart and make you waiver in your belief in Master and Dafa.”
I had encountered the test of sentimentality and allowed myself to be moved by human sentiment. I was afraid of losing a loved one.
The practitioner commented, “We are not ordinary people. We should believe in Master and Dafa. If a practitioner thinks more like an everyday person, he or she cannot cultivate. When a practitioner is having illness symptoms, it is a test. Yet if we have righteous thoughts, your wife will recover.”
He reminded me to study the Fa more, read more experience sharing articles, and to have a peaceful heart. I should look inward, discover my attachments, and try to eliminate them.
He added, “Be positive and have righteous thoughts; don’t let the evil old forces take advantage of you.”
I thank the practitioner for his heart-felt understanding. It certainly helped me to become more determined in cultivation.
