(Minghui.org) I started reading Zhuan Falun, the main book of Falun Gong, at 10 o'clock at night on February 28, 2010, and finished the book at 9 o'clock the next morning. I then understood the meaning of life.
The following day, my daughter asked in surprise while I was thinking about the book, “Mom, what medicine have you taken?”
I realized that I had not taken any medicine for two days. My chronic respiratory inflammation for over 40 years was gone. Before February 28, I had a chronic, intense cough. I had tried both Chinese and Western medicine, as well as folk remedies. My health deteriorated. I developed phlebitis from an intravenous drip. I would vomit when I smelled Chinese herbal medicine. My teeth loosened as a result of taking folk remedies, and I could eat only soft foods.
Three days later, my daughter came in shouting, “Mom, it's raining hard. Why didn't you remind me to bring an umbrella?” I had severe arthritis and would have pain in my joints whenever the weather changed. Sometimes, my sense was even more accurate than the weather forecast. I couldn't even walk downstairs during rainy days. But, that day, I did not have any discomfort. My dizziness, frozen shoulder, and other illnesses were all gone.
My daughter asked me, puzzled, “Mom, what happened? Have you visited a miracle doctor?” I smiled and said while showing her the book Zhuan Falun, “It's this book that cured all my illnesses!” My daughter was stunned. She later started practicing Falun Gong with me.
In the previous five years, my life had reached rock bottom. My friends turned against me, colluded with police, and took over my personal company. My husband divorced me. I had many illnesses. My life was miserable beyond words.
After learning Falun Gong, I understood that everything has reasons. I came to know that nothing is coincidental. I learned that the meaning of life is to return to one's true self. I followed the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance in daily life. My health improved significantly, and I appeared younger.
Seeing these changes in me, many of my friends and relatives decided to learn Falun Gong as well without my having to explain much.
My daughter was accepted into the university of her choice in Shanghai without much difficulty in 2013. I accompanied her to go to Shanghai. I talked with a passenger across me on the train and said I was looking for a job. She gave me the phone number of a family service company.
After my daughter was settled into university, I went to the company and noticed that the manager seemed anxious. There was a customer named Xinxin, who had dismissed the eighth nanny that the company had assigned. She asked whether I wanted to try this customer. I agreed.
I called Xinxin, “I just arrived in Shanghai. I have never been a nanny. I will try my best to help you.” She agreed to take me. My salary was 5,000 yuan per month–enough to pay for my daughter's school expenses.
Xinxin was nice. I asked her at the end of the first month, “You are not so tough. Why did you fire eight nannies before me?”
“If you don't know how to do the work, you can learn. But if someone has poor morals, I absolutely don't want them,” she replied. She said some of her previous nannies ate dried fruit or drank her wine without asking permission. Some even stole things.
I told her and her family that I had improved my character through learning Falun Gong.
Xinxin's husband had a soccer injury one day and had to be carried home. I wrote on a piece of paper, “Falun Dafa is good” and “Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance is good,” and asked him to read it sincerely.
He walked over a few minutes later and asked, “I'm fine now. Do I need any medicine?” I said this was the medicine I prescribed for him. The whole family witnessed his quick recovery and wanted to read Zhuan Falun. They gradually started practicing Falun Gong.
Xinxin had a conflict with her mother-in-law. I told them how I learned from Falun Gong that each person should look for their own shortcomings in these situations. One day, after dinner, Xinxin sincerely apologized to her mother-in-law. The latter had tears in her eyes and admitted that she had made mistakes, too. They shared a hug. The years-long conflict between them was completely resolved.
The whole family was reluctant to let me go half a year later. Xinxin's husband gave me a bonus and said that I was not just a nanny but was invaluable to them. Xinxin said, “We always welcome you. Come to stay in our home whenever you come to Shanghai.” She has called to tell me whenever she changed her lock code for the past three years.
I looked for a job in Beijing in 2014 and received a call from the president of a maternity matron training school. He urgently needed a training instructor and heard that I had experience and was a doctor. I said, “I've never been an instructor. Let's talk.” He agreed.
We had a nice meeting that weekend. I was asked to give a trial lecture the following Monday. Several dozen students, administrators, and teachers attended the lecture. With no slides or books, I talked based on my experience as a maternity matron and my view of the current society. My talk won warm applause.
I was offered the job. The last lecture I gave was about professional ethics and how to prepare for an interview.
I would reserve one hour to tell them about the persecution of Falun Gong and advise them to quit the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). Generally, it was a smooth process.
A student named Qing said adamantly, “I am a CCP member. I won't quit.” She called me the next evening and said, “Teacher, I let you down.” I asked her what had happened. She said, “I was the only one whose test paper was taken away. I need a make-up test.” She continued. “I know why. I will quit the CCP.” We had a long talk the next day. She finally understood why I advised her to do so.
The students I trained generally identify with the principle, “good is rewarded and evil is punished.” They would be successful in interviews. One student had only a primary school education. In an interview for maternity matron, a customer asked her, “Why do you not speak?” She said, “My teacher taught us not to tell lies. I cannot read the instruction materials. I can do other things well but need someone to read the instructions to me. I can ask my teacher when I have questions. My teacher is a person who thinks of others before themselves.” The customer was happy and signed a contract with her on the spot. This customer now contacts me often.
I later met with a company owner. He said he had listened to my lecture and asked me to help manage his failing company. I agreed to give it a try.
I soon saw why: people often smoked and drank in the office, some played games, and men and women stayed together in the same dormitory. It was a mess.
I put forward a few conditions to the owner: smoking and drinking would not be allowed at the company, he and I would follow basic moral standards, we would not take any bribes, and I must have my own dormitory.
In daily work and life, I followed the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance and considered others' needs before my own. I took personal gain lightly.
The company started to change. There was no smoking, drinking, or quarrels. Employees were polite and cared for one another.
The owner said that I was different from others and could solve difficult problems others couldn't. I told him how I had changed after starting to practice Falun Gong. After the discussion, he decided to have me manage the whole company.
My first act was to encourage employees to be considerate, sincere, kind, and tolerant to one another. The owner saw that the revenue in two weeks surpassed that of the entire month before. He was happy and said he trusted me.
One day, his stomach illness relapsed. He took medicine, but there was no improvement. I showed him lecture videos of Master Li (the founder of Falun Gong) in Guangzhou. His stomachache was gone by the second lecture.
He started practicing Falun Gong. We studied the books and did the exercises together. His health improved greatly. Our company has become the best in the industry and was named one of the ten best name-brand workplaces.
