(Minghui.org) One of my friends asked me what I would do if the management of my work unit would take me to a brainwashing center. I told her that nobody could touch me.
Master said,:
“I am rooted in the universe. If anyone can harm you, he or she would be able to harm me. Put simply, that person would be able to harm this universe.” (Zhuan Falun)
Looking back at my cultivation over the past five years, I realized that I improved every time I let go of fear.
The leaders in my work unit kept harassing me and even threatened to take me to a brainwashing center the year after I lodged the lawsuit against former dictator Jiang Zemin. My first reaction was that I would not cooperate and I would negate it. However, I did not feel right about my attitude.
I looked inward and found that I feared being tortured.
Selfishness
The root of my fear was selfishness and it led to a state of self protection. It was a manifestation of not believing in Master and the Fa 100%. Because I was not truly in the Fa, my righteous thoughts were lacking and the old forces took advantage of my fear.
Master said:
“Saving beings, improving yourself, and resisting the persecution are all acts that validate the Fa; only walking straight your path amounts to validating the Fa. Also, don't use the wicked things that happen during the persecution as an excuse for not validating the Fa or not validating it well, for the reality is, the wicked persecution arranged by the old forces was put in place to test you. Even though we don't acknowledge the old forces' existence or arrangements, they have done what they've done. You play the leading role in this period of history, and the existence of everything at present, whether it be evil or the upright gods, has to do with you. It is walking straight your path that is most important. In the final time, the evil's factors will dwindle, circumstances will ease up, and the world's state of affairs will change, but never will the path that you are to walk straight change.” (“Walk Straight Your Path” from The Essentials of Diligent Progress Vol. III)
I thought that I should not have any omission or leave any regret for myself. That was the reason why I did not cooperate. Actually this was a reflection of selfishness. I only thought of myself instead of thinking of others.
The purpose of my not cooperating with the old forces should have been to save sentient beings rather than to protect myself. If I cooperated with them, it would lead to more people being deceived and the old forces would commit more crimes.
The purpose of our opposing the persecution and sending forth righteous thoughts is to save sentient beings.
Master said,
“so as to attain the righteous Enlightenment of selflessness and altruism” (“Non-Omission in Buddha-Nature”, Essentials for Further Advancement).
Only when we have true righteous thoughts according to the Fa can we be unmovable as rocks and solid as diamond.
Protecting Instead of Persecuting
I decided to write letters to let my community leaders know the facts about Falun Dafa and how it has spread throughout the world. I told them how many people had lodged lawsuits against Jiang Zemin who instigated the persecution, and how organs are harvested from living practitioners.
I delivered the letters and sent forth righteous thoughts to clear the evil factors preventing sentient beings from being saved. At the same time overseas practitioners made phone calls to talk more about the facts of Falun Dafa.
Dafa disciples are one body and we demonstrate our power when we cooperate well. When I met these leaders a couple of days later, I could feel that their attitude had changed. I felt that they finally knew the truth and were thinking about protecting practitioners rather then persecuting them.
