(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 11 cities or counties in 9 provinces. According to this report, 12 Falun Gong practitioners were subjected to mistreatment during their detention, and at least 19 were illegally arrested.
Ms. Cheng Guixiang and Ms. Feng Lihua from the Licang District were arrested by officers from the Laoshan District Police Department for distributing Falun Gong informational materials in Beizhai Village, the Laoshan District, on the morning of February 3, 2016. Both practitioners were taken to the Pudong Detention Center in Jimo City on the following afternoon.
Over 20 police officers broke into Ms. Bai Meifen's home on the morning of February 4, 2016. Ms. Bai and two of her fellow practitioners, who were at her home, were arrested. All three were taken to the Diaoyutai Police Station.
The officers lay in wait in Ms. Bai's home and arrested three more practitioners. The officers confiscated several printers, computers, and personal belongings valued at 20,000 yuan.
Ms. Bai, 72, is currently in the Tangshan City No. 1 Detention Center. The other five practitioners have returned home.
Mr. Fan Jirong was again arrested by officers from the Yanqing County Domestic Security Division on the afternoon February 5, 2016. The officers confiscated his Falun Gong books, Falun Gong informational materials, a computer, and a printer.
Tang Shichuan and other officers from the Jiangyang District Police Department showed up at Ms. Luo Yanfen's home and arrested her and Ms. Liu Guizhen in December 2015. Both practitioners were taken to the Jiangyang District Police Department. The officers ransacked Ms. Luo's home and confiscated Falun Gong books. They searched Ms. Liu's bag and confiscated a Falun Gong book and an audio player. Both of the elderly women returned home by 7:30 p.m. that night.
Five practitioners visited Ms. Yan Hong on January 8, 2016. Officers from the Dadongmen Police Station in the Dadong District broke into Ms. Yan's home and arrested the five practitioners.
Ms. Liu Shufen, 65, and another practitioner were taken to the Dadong District Domestic Security Division, then transferred to the Shenyang City Detention Center. They were held for seven days. Both returned home on January 25, 2016.
Ms. Zhang Rufang, Ms. Tan Guiying, and Ms. Yu Guihong (two are in their seventies) were held overnight in the police station. They returned home the next morning.
Employees from the Qianluan and Houluan Communities showed up at the homes of Ms. Ma Xuelan, Ms. Luan Jixiang, and Ms. Luan Jifang between January 31 and February 1, 2016. They demanded that the three practitioners sign guarantee statements promising to give up Falun Gong. They threatened that any refusal would result in their not receiving their cash allowance to purchase flour.
Mr. Deng, Mr. Da Luzi, and Mr. Yu Danjiang were arrested for distributing Falun Gong informational materials in the Yongji countryside on the evening of February 3, 2016. Elderly Mr. Deng was released for health reasons. Mr. Da Luzi is detained in the Jilin City Detention Center. Mr. Yu's whereabouts are unknown.
Two officers from the Beimeng Town Police Station showed up at Mr. Liu Shushun's home on the morning of January 30, 2016, ransacked the home, and confiscated 31 Falun Gong books, a printer, and a music player.
Officers from the Beimeng Town Police Station showed up at Mr. Liu Jiageng's home in Ligezhuang Village on the morning of January 30, 2016. They confiscated his Falun Gong books and took Mr. Liu to the police station. Mr. Liu returned home that afternoon.
Two officers went to Mr. Cao Wanghu's home in Caogezhuang Village on the afternoon of January 30, 2016, and confiscated three Falun Gong calendars.
Officers from the local Domestic Security Division ordered Ms. Li Huili to go to the Zhonglou Police Station on October 23, 2015, where she was interrogated. Her employer, the Shenmu County Rural Commercial Bank, then told her to take early retirement on February 1, 2016.

Mr. Ke Zhengji has been detained in the Maoming No. 1 Detention Center for more than two months. He was arrested on November 19, 2015, for filing a criminal complaint against Jiang Zemin. His case has been submitted to the Maonan District Procuratorate.
His family hired two attorneys, Lan Zhixue from Beijing and Zhang Zanning from the Huagang Law Firm in Jiangxi Province, to defend him. They were asked by the family to plead not guilty on behalf of their client.
Attorney Zhang went to visit Mr. Ke in the detention center on the morning of February 1, 2016, and saw that Mr. Ke looked unwell. He asked if he was sick. Mr. Ke said he suffered from a systemic rheumatic disease, which affects the entire body, as well as kidney problems.
Attorney Zhang filed a habeas corpus petition, arguing that Mr. Ke should not be held indefinitely without trial or bail. The request was denied, the authorities claiming his was “a political case.”
Ms. Wang Lu, 52, was a nurse-in-charge in the Bengbu No. 3 Hospital. She had been arrested in September 15, 2011, for practicing Falun Gong and sentenced to five years in prison in April 2012. She was tortured in the Anhui Women's Prison.
Ms. Wang went on a hunger strike and resisted doing the forced labor, to protest her illegal detention. The guards force fed her by prying her mouth open, and loosened her teeth. She was handcuffed with her hands behind her back for a long time. Her hands were stretched in opposite directions and cuffed to a bed rail during the night. She was forced to stand and was deprived of sleep. The guards put a dirty cloth in her mouth and shocked her with electric batons.
The guards ordered inmates to take her to a restroom and beat her, because this was the only place with no monitoring cameras. The inmates also covered her head with a quilt and beat her in the cell during the night. As a result of the torture, Ms. Wang lost her hearing.
Ms. Su Mingying, Ms. Ni Yuxian, and Ms. Ni's daughter Ms. Liu Shengcao were handing out New Year's pictures and characters with Falun Gong content on the morning of January 30, 2016. They were reported and arrested by officers from the Baishan Police Station in the Fengman District. The police ransacked their homes. Ms. Su and Ms. Ni were released pending trial. Ms. Liu is still in the Jilin Detention Center.
