Additional Persecution News from China – January 14, 2016 (14 Reports)

(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 14 cities or counties in 9 provinces. According to this report, 7 Falun Gong practitioners were subjected to mistreatment during their detention, and at least 28 were illegally arrested. Several practitioners seeking to mail letters of complaint regarding Jiang Zemin to the Supreme People's Procuratorate and the Supreme Court have met with obstacles.

1. [Yizhou City, Guangxi Province] Ms. Liu Xinyuan Arrested

Ms. Liu Xinyuan was recently arrested for suing Jiang Zemin, the former Chinese dictator.

2. [Jinan City, Shandong Province] Ms. Yu Mei Detained

Ms. Yu Mei was arrested by Xiuhui Police Station officers on December 23, 2015, for suing Jiang Zemin. She was detained in the Jinan City No. 3 Detention Center and released on January 7, 2016.

3. [Harbin City, Heilongjiang Province] Three Practitioners Sentenced

Ms. Li Guilan, Ms. Liu Sijia, and Ms. Wu Lirong were arrested by officers from the Yagou Police Station and Acheng Domestic Security Division on April 24, 2015, for distributing Shen Yun Performing Arts DVDs. They were detained in the Yaziquan Detention Center in Harbin City.

They were tried in Acheng Court on November 26, 2015. Ms. Wu was sentenced to a two-year prison term with one-year probation. She was released. Ms. Li was sentenced to three-and-a half-years in prison and Ms. Liu to three years in prison.

Ms. Li and Ms. Liu were taken to the Heilongjiang Province Women's Prison in January 2016.

4. [Xingtai City, Hebei Province] Mr. Chen Jianhua Detained

Mr. Chen Jianhua was arrested by officers from the Linxi County Domestic Security Division on December 23, 2015, for suing Jiang Zemin. He was taken to the Linxi County Police Department and then transferred to the Linxi County Detention Center.

5. [Dezhou City, Shandong Province] Ms. Peng Yuanxiu and Ms. Wang Yuying Arrested

Ms. Peng Yuanxiu and Ms. Wang Yuying were recently arrested and had their homes ransacked for suing Jiang Zemin. Ms. Peng was released because she failed the physical exam. Ms. Wang was detained for 15 days.

6. [Zhangjiakou City, Hebei Province] Mr. Zhang Zhanhe and Ms. Zhang Yuchan Arrested

Mr. Zhang Zhanhe and Ms. Zhang Yuchan were arrested by officers from the Shachengxi Police Station in Huailai County on January 12, 2016. Ms. Zhang was released that day, but Mr. Zhang was detained in the Ertaizi Detention Center in Huailai County for 10 days.

7. [Mishan City, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Gu Qiaoling Arrested

Ms. Gu Qiaoling was arrested by Xingkaihu Police Department officers on January 12, 2016, for talking to people about the persecution of Falun Gong. She was released that evening.

8. [Rudong County, Jiangsu Province] Ms. Zhao Aimei Sentenced to Four Year's Imprisonment

Ms. Zhao Aimei was recently sentenced to four years for practicing Falun Gong. She was arrested in May 2015 and interrogated in a hotel for 24 days. It is not known when she will be transferred to prison.

9. [Lianzhou City, Guangdong Province] Four Practitioners Sentenced

Four local residents were sentenced in September 2015 for practicing and spreading information about the persecution of Falun Gong.

The local police ransacked the four practitioners' homes on January 15, 2015, and put them on trial on September 16.

Shortly after the trial, Mr. Deng Zhiqing was sentenced to five years, Ms. Guan Aizhen to four-and-a-half years, and Ms. He Meilian and Ms. Pan Qiuzhen to three years each.

Mr. Deng is being held in the Lianzhou City Detention Center, and Ms. Guan and Ms. He in the Yangshan County Detention Center. Ms. Pan was given home detention.

10. [Liaoyuan, Jilin Province] Ms. Liang Yujie Sentenced

Ms. Liang Yujie was sentenced to three years on December 23, 2015, four months after her arrest for practicing and spreading information about Falun Gong.

The 54-year-old woman has filed an appeal, protesting her sentence.

Prior to her latest arrest, she was sent to forced labor in 2002 and again in 2008 for refusing to give up her belief in Falun Gong. While in the labor camp in 2002, she was brutally force fed and lost two teeth. She was also shocked with electric batons and tied to a bed for extended periods of time.

Her latest arrest took place in August 2015. The police ransacked her home and confiscated personal property. The police also fabricated evidence the court used to sentence her in late December

11. [Fengning County, Hebei Province] Eight Practitioners Sentenced

Eight local residents were sentenced on the same day for practicing Falun Gong and spreading information about the persecution of this cultivation practice.

The local court handed down the following prison sentences on December 22, 2015:

Ms. Wang Guozhen, 74: 6 yearsMs. Wang's husband Mr. Chu Lianqi: 5 yearsMr. Li Zhencai, 76: a one-year term with 2 years of probationMs. Wang Xizhi: a one-year term with 2 years of probationMs. Feng Yuzhi: 4 yearsMr. Liu Zhifeng: one-and-a-half yearsMr. Zhang Jun: 6 monthsMs. Wu Yaru: a 3-year term with 5 years of probation

Ms. Wang, Mr. Chu, and Mr. Liu have filed appeals with the Chengde City Intermediate Court.

Ms. Wang, Mr. Chu, Ms. Feng, and Mr. Liu were arrested on December 14, 2015, while hanging up banners bearing messages about the persecution of Falun Gong.

Ms. Chu Lianrong, daughter of Ms. Wang and Mr. Chu, was arrested the same day as her parents and had a mental collapse while in detention. She died not long after she was released on bail in March 2015.

All of the sentenced practitioners had been repeatedly arrested and detained in the past for refusing to renounce their faith. In particular, Ms. Wang was given three years of forced labor in 2000 and 2004. A few years after she was released from the labor camp, she was arrested again and sentenced to four years in prison in 2010.

Ms. Feng was given three years of forced labor in 2001.

12. [Yushu, Jilin Province] Ms. Wang Xuchun Sentenced to 4 Years In Prison

Ms. Wang Xuchun was recently sentenced to four years in prison, five days after her arrest on December 30, 2015.

It is believed that Ms. Wang's arrest and sentencing was related to the sentening of her younger sister, Ms. Wang Xufang, and three other women. They were sentenced to three years in 2008 for distributing information about the persecution of Falun Gong.

Ms. Wang Xuchun was arrested on August 12, 2009, and tortured during interrogation. The police released her on medical parole, but detained her again in December 2014. She was tried on January 5, 2016, and given four years in prison.

13. [Yingkou City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Zhu Ruimin Taken to Prison

Ms. Zhu Ruimin was taken to Dabei Prison on January 12, 2016, less than two months after the Yingkou City Intermediate Court issued a decision to uphold the four-year sentence given to her and her husband for practicing Falun Gong.

The 75-year-old retired teacher and her husband were arrested in October 2014 and tried on April 8, 2015. Both were released on bail when the verdict was announced on June 3, 2015. While Ms. Zhu is now imprisoned, the whereabouts of her husband Mr. Wu Ruitong is not known.

14. [Yuyao City, Zhejiang Province] Four Falun Gong Practitioners Tortured in Prison

Ms. Yao Hongwen, Ms. Yu Zhiying, Ms. Wang Chunyan, and Ms. Huang Jiadi were secretly sentenced by the Ningbo Intermediate Court in September 2015. Ms. Huang was sentenced to four-and-a-half years in prison, and the other practitioners were each sentenced to 5 years. They were taken to the Zhejiang Provincial Women's Prison.

The prison refused to allow family visits during the first three months. Ms. Yu and Ms. Wang's families are allowed to visit them now, but Ms. Yao and Ms. Huang are forbidden family visits.
