(Minghui.org) An outstanding teacher, 42, filed a criminal complaint against Jiang Zemin on August 30, 2015. In her complaint, Ms. Liu Hui held the former Chinese dictator accountable for her suffering over the course of more than 12 years of illegal detention because of her belief in Falun Gong.
Below is Ms. Liu's personal account of what she has gone through during the past 16 years.
Most Recent Arrest
I was arrested on December 14, 2011 for requesting my job back and sentenced to three and a half years in prison two years later. On April 23, 2014, I was transferred to Chuanxi Prison, which is notorious for brutally persecuting female Falun Gong practitioners. I weighed 68 pounds when I was released on June 14, 2015. Prison guards also extorted money from my family to pay for my force-feeding.
Previous Arrests
Between July 1999 and October 2000, I was arrested ten times because of my belief and detained more than six months. In October 2000, officers from the Chengdu Police Department threatened to have me terminated from my job, suspend my pay, deny my son his schooling, and confiscate my house. I left my son with his grandmother and left my home to avoid harassment.
I was illegally sentenced to prison twice for distributing Falun Gong materials. On February 4, 2001, I was taken to the Sichuan Women's Labor Camp to serve one and a half years of forced labor. I went on a hunger strike and was brutally force-fed with spicy liquids. The guards and inmates also severely beat me, electric shocked me, and forced me to squat, stand, and walk for long hours.
The brutal persecution led to acute renal failure, weight loss, and a drop in my blood pressure to below normal levels. To avoid liability, the labor camp sent me home in October 2001 and put me under house arrest. They assigned nine people to watch me around the clock every day. When those people planned to take me back to the camp because my health improved, I escaped and left home again to avoid arrest in March 2002.
On October 4, 2002, I was detained in a local police station for three weeks and then transferred to Chengdu Detention Center. The Jinniu District Court secretly put me on trial and sentenced me four years in prison in July 2003. I was sent later to Longquanyi Women's Prison, where I was closely watched and family visits were denied. The guards prohibited me from leaving the monitoring room, talking to other practitioners, and going to bed before midnight.
Because of the arrests, my husband divorced me in 2005.
Extended Persecution in Brainwashing Center
On my release day from the prison on October 11, 2006, officers from Fuqin Police Station illegally took me to Huaquia Township Brainwashing Center in Xinjin County. I went on a hunger strike, but I was force-fed every day until I developed a high fever two weeks later. I was detained for three years and three months and released on January 15, 2010.
My Son Suffered Too
My son was four years old when I was first arrested in 1999. He had to be detained with me in each arrest because no one was available to look after him. He was also beaten by police three times inside a soundproof van.
During my 14 years of detention, my son, now 20, had to be raised by his grandparents. He grew up without his mother most of time. He became quiet and withdrawn as a result.
Background
In 1999, Jiang Zemin, as head of the Chinese Communist Party, overrode other Politburo standing committee members and launched the violent suppression of Falun Gong.
The persecution has led to the deaths of many Falun Gong practitioners in the past 16 years. More have been tortured for their beliefs and even killed for their organs. Jiang Zemin is directly responsible for the inception and continuation of the brutal persecution.
Under his personal direction, the Chinese Communist Party established an extralegal security organ, the “610 Office,” on June 10, 1999. The organization overrides police forces and the judicial system in carrying out Jiang's directive regarding Falun Gong: to ruin their reputations, cut off their financial resources, and destroy them physically.
Chinese law allows for citizens to be plaintiffs in criminal cases, and many practitioners are now exercising that right to file criminal complaints against the former dictator.
