(Minghui.org) The wife of an engineer in Northeast China, who had died under suspicious circumstances while serving a prison term for practicing Falun Gong, has filed a lawsuit against Jiang Zemin, the former head of the Chinese communist regime. She is holding him responsible for launching the persecution of Falun Gong, which led to the death of her husband.
Mr. Li Hongkui, from Harbin, Heilongjiang Province, died while serving a seven year prison term at the Daqing Prison. Just before he was to be released from the prison, Mr. Li suffered a brain hemorrhage. He underwent surgery on August 13, 2012. He recovered quickly from the operation, but suddenly passed away on August 28, 2012, just 23 days before his release date.
Ms. Bai Qun, Mr. Li's wife, who was denied visitation rights during her husband's imprisonment, was allowed to visit him in the hospital on August 14, 2012. She noticed many scars on his body. The officials refused to provide any explanation for the scars.
The authorities pressured his family, and blocked the investigation concerning the suspicious injury and death of Ms. Bai's husband.
After the CCP launched its persecution of Falun Gong in 1999, Mr. Li was illegally arrested several times and sentenced to prison terms twice. He was arrested again on September 22, 2005, which led to the seven-year imprisonment and eventual death in Daqing Prison.
Mr. Li was a mechanical engineer employed by the Harbin Post Bureau. He was named “Employee of the Year” for over 10 years in a row by the municipal and provincial government, and by the Post Bureau. He was named a “Model Employee” of the province's Post and Telecommunication system.
Background
In 1999, Jiang Zemin, as head of the Chinese Communist Party, overrode other Politburo standing committee members and launched the violent suppression of Falun Gong.
The persecution has led to the deaths of many Falun Gong practitioners in the past 16 years. More have been tortured for their belief and even killed for their organs. Jiang Zemin is directly responsible for the inception and continuation of the brutal persecution.
Under his personal direction, the Chinese Communist Party established an extralegal security organ, the “610 Office,” on June 10, 1999. The organization overrides police forces and the judicial system in carrying out Jiang's directive regarding Falun Gong: to ruin their reputations, cut off their financial resources, and destroy them physically.
Chinese law allows for citizens to be plaintiffs in criminal cases, and many practitioners are now exercising that right to file criminal complaints against the former dictator.
