(Minghui.org) Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Chen Zhizhong was arrested for filing a criminal complaint against Jiang Zemin, the former head of the Chinese communist regime, who launched the persecution against Falun Gong. The local police arrested him after they ransacked his home. They attempted to detain him for 15 days, but in the end released him the same day.
Mr. Chen mailed the complaint in July 2015 to the Supreme People's Procuratorate and the Supreme People's Court. He highlighted the persecution suffered by him and his family since the onset of the persecution. He demanded for Jiang to be brought to justice.
Criminal Complaint in the Police's Hands
More than 10 policemen from the Changzhuang Police Station, Decheng District, Dezhou City ransacked Mr. Chen Zhizhong's home on October 25, 2015. They brought his criminal complaints, as well as a search and arrest warrant. They turned his home upside down, confiscated Falun Gong informational materials and books, and took photos. When Chen was asked to sign the item list, he wrote, “This a list of personal property, not evidence of wrongdoing.”
Mr. Chen was interrogated at the police station. They also fingerprinted him and took his blood. Then, he was given 15 days of detention.
In doing so, the police had violated the law, and Mr. Chen made them aware of it. He also said that he would sue them upon his release. The police officer reported this to higher level officials. Liu Dawei, an officer from the domestic security division, then came to the police station.
“It's you again,” Liu said, “and you have things [the criminal complaint against Jiang Zemin] stored in your computer.”
“It is a citizen's right to sue Jiang Zemin,” responded Mr. Chen. “He persecuted Falun Gong and sold practitioners' organs for profit. Why shouldn't we sue him?”
He added, “Many officials that persecuted Falun Gong are facing the consequences of their actions, such as Zhou Yongkang, Bo Xilai, Li Dongsheng and Xu Caihou. You are also victims of the persecution.”
They did not say much after Mr. Chen's speech, and they later changed his detention to 10 days. When he was transferred to the detention center, he was deemed unfit due to abnormal blood pressure and a heart condition. Liu then took him to the district hospital for another check up. The hospital confirmed the findings, and Mr. Chen was released.
After 10 days, someone called and asked Mr. Chen to come to the police station and sign a document. Mr. Chen refused.
Background
In 1999, Jiang Zemin, as head of the Chinese Communist Party, overrode other Politburo standing committee members and launched the violent suppression of Falun Gong.
The persecution has led to the deaths of many Falun Gong practitioners in the past 16 years. More have been tortured for their belief and even killed for their organs. Jiang Zemin is directly responsible for the inception and continuation of the brutal persecution.
Under his personal direction, the Chinese Communist Party established an extralegal security organ, the “610 Office,” on June 10, 1999. The organization overrides police forces and the judicial system in carrying out Jiang's directive regarding Falun Gong: to ruin their reputations, cut off their financial resources, and destroy them physically.
Chinese law allows for citizens to be plaintiffs in criminal cases, and many practitioners are now exercising that right to file criminal complaints against the former dictator. The law also allows people to file reporting criminal cases without need of using true names.
Over 200,000 Falun Gong practitioners and their family members have filed criminal complaints against Jiang Zemin with the Supreme People's Procuratorate and the Supreme People's Court since the end of May 2015. Many practitioners also encourage people to join the effort to report Jiang's crimes and stop the persecution.
