Additional Persecution News from China – March 22, 2016 (16 Reports)

(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 15 cities or counties in 10 provinces. According to this report, 3 Falun Gong practitioners were subjected to mistreatment during their detention, and at least 23 were illegally arrested.

1. [Boli County, Heilongjiang Province] Five Practitioners and Three Family Members Arrested

Ms. Xu Shuhua, Ms. Xu Chunmei, Ms. Yan Guiqin, Ms. Bai Xiuzhen, and Ms. Cong Ziqing were arrested at Ms. Cong's home on the afternoon of March 21, 2016. Ms. Cong's husband, daughter, and son were arrested at the same time.

2. [Jingzhou City, Hubei Province] Ms. Chen Shunying Arrested

Ms. Chen Shunying was arrested on March 18, 2016 by officers from the Yukoulu Police Station while she was speaking up for Falun Gong in public. She was incarcerated at the Ximen Detention Center.

3. [Laiyang City, Shandong Province] Ms. Zang Shufen Arrested

Ms. Zang Shufen of Yejiazhuang Village, Bailinzhuang Town was arrested on March 19, 2016 by officers from the Laiyang City Domestic Security Division.

4. [Huachuan County, Heilongjiang Province] Three Practitioners Arrested

Ms. Ling Xianfang, Ms. Yang Yunfeng, and Ms. Yang Yunlei were arrested on the morning of March 21, 2016 by police from the Jiangchuan Police Department while they were talking to people about Falun Gong.

5. [Nongan County, Jilin Province] Mr. Wang Jiuchang and Mr. Zheng Jiawu Arrested

Mr. Wang Jiuchang from the Baishan Brigade, Yangshulin Township was arrested on March 18, 2016. Mr. Zheng Jiawe from Baojia Village was arrested on March 16, 2016.

6. [Shijiazhuang City, Hebei Province] Mr. Liu Yanbin Arrested

Mr. Liu Yanbin, age 50, was arrested at his rental home on March 12, 2016, and incarcerated at a detention center.

7. [Beijing] Mr. Yang Shiming and Ms. Liu Yanmei Arrested

Mr. Yang Shiming was arrested on March 11, 2016 for suing Jiang Zemin. He was incarcerated at the Nihe Detention Center in Shunyi District. Ms. Liu Yanmei was arrested on February 24, 2016, and incarcerated at the Nihe Detention Center.

8. [Weifang City, Shandong Province] Mr. Liu Jiageng Arrested

Mr. Liu Jiageng of Lier Village, Beimeng Town, Changyi City was arrested on the afternoon of March 21, 2016 by officers from the Beimeng Town Police Station.

9. [Nanzheng County, Shaanxi Province] Ms. Xiao Yanping Arrested

Ms. Xiao Yanping was arrested on February 26, 2016. She is incarcerated at the Hantai Detention Center.

10. [Panjin City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Su Ying Arrested

Ms. Su Ying from the Shuangtaizi District was arrested on the morning of March 21, 2016 by officers from the Domestic Security Division of the Shuangtaizi District Police Department. The police ransacked her home. Ms. Su is incarcerated at the Panjin City Detention Center.

11. [Gongqingcheng City, Jiangxi Province] Mr. Sun Jinrong Arrested

Mr. Sun Jinrong was arrested on February 8, 2016 while he was distributing Falun Gong informational materials. Officers took him to the Ganlu Town Police Station, ransacked his home, seized his Falun Gong books, a picture of the founder of Falun Gong, and other items.

Mr. Sun was arrested again on March 17, 2016 by officers from the Ganlu Town Police Station. He was released after the Gongqingcheng City Detention Center refused to admit him.

12. [Wuchang City, Heilongjiang Province] Three Practitioners Arrested

Ms. Dong Xiaoli, Ms. Guo Xiaoyun, and Ms. Yan Jing'en from Shanhe Town were arrested on March 16, 2016 while they were distributing Falun Gong materials in the Shanhetun Forestry Bureau neighborhood. Ms. Yan was released the next day. Ms. Dong and Ms. Guo were incarcerated at the Shanhetun Forestry Bureau Detention Center.

13. [Changping City, Beijing] Mr. Zhang Hongru Sentenced

Mr. Zhang Hongru was sentenced to 4 years in November 2015 for practicing Falun Gong. He appealed but the local higher court recently decided to uphold the original sentence.

The Beijing engineer remains at Changping District Detention Center following his arrest in July 2015. Prior to his latest arrest, Mr. Zhang was imprisoned for 11 years for refusing to give up his faith.

14. [Puning City, Guangdong Province] Ms. Yang Fengtao Tried

Ms. Yang Fengtao, 52, was tried on March 18 for practicing and publicizing information about Falun Gong, a spiritual discipline being persecuted by the Chinese communist regime. Her lawyer entered a not guilty plea and requested her release. It is not clear when the judge will issue a verdict.

Ms. Yang remains detained following her arrest on November 13, 2015. The Puning Court planned to hold a secret trial on February 25, 2016. When Ms. Yang asked why her lawyer and family were not informed, the court had to change the schedule.

15. [Chifeng City, Inner Mongolia] Mr. Ji Xiaodong Tortured in Prison

Mr. Ji Xiaodong suffered a stroke after being subjected to torture in Chifeng Prison (i.e. Inner Mongolia No. 4 Prison). When he was sent to the prison infirmary, he was dressed in clothing used by a prisoner infected with syphilis. Mr. Ji became infected with the disease. The prisoner was released for medical treatment but Mr. Ji is still imprisoned.

Mr. Ji was recently transferred to the Infectious Disease Prison in Hohhot, Inner Mongolia.

16. [Jilin City, Jilin Province] Brothers' Appeal Tried Secretly

Mr. Li Dequan and his brother Li Dexiang were arrested on October 17, 2013. After being detained for about two years, the brothers were sentenced to eight years and four years' imprisonment, respectively, by the Changyi District Court on September 11, 2015. Their lawyers and families were not informed at all. The brothers appealed to the Jilin Intermediate Court.

The court personnel did everything they could to block their lawyers during the appeal process, requesting them to submit the following documents:a. Letter issued by the local Domestic Security Division, stating that they do not practice Falun Gongb. Letter issued by the law firm and local legal bureau, giving them consent to handle the casesc. Guarantee letter that they would not enter a not-guilty plea

When Mr. Li Dequan's lawyer went to visit him on the morning of March 8, 2016, he was not allowed to visit his client. A guard told him that the second trial was held on March 6, 2016, which was a Sunday.
