(Minghui.org) Ms. Yin Xiuzhi was recently sentenced to seven years in prison, less than one year after she filed a criminal complaint against Jiang Zemin. She accuses the former Chinese dictator of initiating the persecution of Falun Gong that resulted in her husband's premature death and her repeated arrests.
The 56-year-old woman from Jianping County was arrested and had her home ransacked on November 11, 2015. The police never informed her family of her whereabouts, and it took the family two weeks to discover that she had been sent to a detention facility in Panjin City.
Ms. Yin has been denied family visits since her arrest. She was tried on March 25 of this year and sentenced to 7 years on April 20. She was also fined 20,000 yuan. Her family vowed to appeal her sentence.
Ms. Yin had been plagued by asthma and other health problems for years. Her symptoms disappeared soon after she began to practice Falun Gong in 1995, and her daughter recovered from epilepsy.
A healthy body lifted Ms. Yin's spirits, and life was beautiful again--until the persecution of Falun Gong began in 1999.
Ms. Yin's late husband Mr. Xue Zhanfei was a deputy director of Jianping County Detention Center. Though supportive of his wife's practice of Falun Gong, he didn't join her right away.
He had a stroke in 2003 and suffered from severe complications. Only then did he decide to give Falun Gong a try. Before he knew it, his symptoms were gone and the whole family was elated.
The police, however, kept threatening him, saying that he would lose his job. He eventually gave in and stopped practicing Falun Gong. He had a relapse of his symptoms and died later, leaving Ms. Yin to struggle to raise their daughter alone.
Ms. Yin holds Jiang Zemin responsible for her husband's premature death and her repeated arrests.
In 1999, Jiang Zemin, as head of the Chinese Communist Party, overrode other Politburo standing committee members and launched the violent suppression of Falun Gong.
The persecution has led to the deaths of many Falun Gong practitioners during the past 16 years. More have been tortured for their belief and even killed for their organs. Jiang Zemin is directly responsible for the inception and continuation of the brutal persecution.
Under his personal direction, the Chinese Communist Party established an extralegal security organ, the “610 Office,” on June 10, 1999. The organization overrides police forces and the judicial system in carrying out Jiang's directive regarding Falun Gong: to ruin their reputations, cut off their financial resources, and destroy them physically.
Chinese law allows for citizens to be plaintiffs in criminal cases, and many practitioners are now exercising that right to file criminal complaints against the former dictator.
