Additional Persecution News from China – April 18, 2016 (21 Reports)

(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 20 cities or counties in 11 provinces. According to this report, 12 Falun Gong practitioners were subjected to mistreatment during their detention, and at least 23 were illegally arrested. Several practitioners seeking to mail letters of complaint regarding Jiang Zemin to the Supreme People's Procuratorate and the Supreme Court have met with obstacles.

Mr. Zhang Wenxue was tried on April 27, 2016.

2. [Chaoyang City, Liaoning Province] Mr. Jiang Wei Faced a Second Hearing

Mr. Jiang Wei faced a second hearing held by the Chaoyang City Court on April 18, 2016. The first hearing was held on March 21, 2016.

3. [Changchun City, Jilin Province] Mr. Sun Yong and Ms. Sun Guangpu Arrests Approved

Mr. Sun Yong and his daughter Ms. Sun Guangpu were arrested by officers from the Changchun City Domestic Security Division on March 9, 2016. The officers ransacked their home and confiscated many personal belongings. Their arrests were approved by the Changchun City Procuratorate on April 13.

4. [Chengwu County, Shandong Province] Ms. Shan Xianzhi Detained

Ms. Shan Xianzhi was arrested by officers from the Chengwu County Domestic Security Division and Shengli Police Station in Dongying City on March 30, 2016, for suing Jiang Zemin, the former Chinese dictator. She was taken to Chengwu County Detention Center that evening.

5. [Jinzhou City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Yang Xiulan and Ms. Zhang Arrested

Ms. Yang Xiulan and Ms. Zhang were arrested by officers from the 610 Office on April 14, 2016.

6. [Liuhe County, Jilin Province] Ms. Cui Zhao Detained

Ms. Cui Zhao was arrested on April 13, 2016, for suing Jiang Zemin. She was given a ten-day detention and held in the Liuhe County Detention Center.

7. [Nanjing City, Jiangsu Province] Mr. Wang Weibing Detained

Mr. Wang Weibing was arrested and taken to a police station on April 12, 2016. He was tortured during the interrogation. The police put a black plastic bag over his head, kicked his genitals, and hung him by his wrists. He was also deprived of sleep for a long time. He is currently detained in the Nanjing No. 1 Detention Center.

8. [Dalian City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Wang Xiaoli and Ms. Liu Fengqin Arrested

Ms. Wang Xiaoli was arrested at her workplace by officers from the Zhuanghe Political and Legal Affairs Committee and Qingdui Police Station on April 14, 2016, for suing Jiang Zemin. She was taken to a brainwashing center.

Ms. Liu Fengqin was also arrested at her workplace on April 14, 2016 by officers from the Nanjianshao Police Station, and taken to the Dalian Drug Rehabilitation Center, for suing Jiang Zemin.

9. [Guiyang City, Guizhou Province] Ms. Tang Wenzhen and Ms. Yao Qiuyan's Whereabouts Unknown

Ms. Tang Wenzhen and Ms. Yao Qiuyan were arrested by officers from the Guanshanhu Police Station on April 16, 2016, for talking to people about the persecution of Falun Gong. The police ransacked their homes. The whereabouts of the two practitioners are unknown.

10. [Changchun City, Jilin Province] Ms. Sui Yuzhen Detained

Ms. Sui Yuzhen was arrested on April 11, 2016 for talking about the persecution of Falun Gong. She was detained in the Jiutai Detention Center for ten days.

11. [Qianan County, Jilin Province] Ms. Zhang Hongmei’s Whereabouts Unknown

Ms. Zhang Hongmei was arrested at home by a group of people with unknown background on April 7, 2016. They also ransacked her home. Her whereabouts are unknown.

12. [Qingzhou City, Shandong Province] Ms. Zhao Tianxiu Arrested

Ms. Zhao Tianxiu was arrested on April 14, 2016.

13. [Lintao County, Gansu Province] Four Practitioners Arrested

Mr. Wen Weilong; Mr. Yan Yuanjing, 68, and Ms. Sang Xiaochun were arrested at Mr. Wang Yalong’s home by officers including Hu Shengwei (胡生伟) from the Xintian Police Station and Lintao County 610 Office on April 13, 2016, for reading Falun Gong books.

The police confiscated from Mr. Wen approximately 2,000 yuan in paper currency with Falun Gong messages written on them, and amulets from Mr. Yan.

Mr. Wang was also arrested upon arriving at home. The police ransacked his home and confiscated a computer, a printer, Falun Gong books, informational DVDs, and materials about the persecution of Falun Gong, along with several volumes of Minghui Weekly. The total value of the confiscated items was 8,000 yuan.

Ms. Sang was released at around 11:00 p.m.

Mr. Yan was released later and the police also ransacked his home and confiscated amulets, paper currency, Falun Gong books, an exercise music box, and Hong Yin, a book of poems by Mr. Li Hongzhi. The police shocked Mr. Yan with electric batons on his head and hands while interrogating him.

The whereabouts of Mr. Wen and Mr. Wang are still unknown.

14. [Guantao County, Hebei Province] Ms. Li Junmei Arrested

Ms. Li Junmei was arrested by Li Junshan (李俊山) and officers from the Guantao County Domestic Security Division on April 14, 2016, when she picked up her grandson. Li Junshan pulled her grandson away from her.

15. [Leshan City, Sichuan Province] Ms. Hu Runlian and Ms. Gong Xiuying Detained

Ms. Hu Runlian was arrested at home on March 5, 2016. The police ransacked her home. She is detained in the Leshan City Detention Center.

Ms. Gong Xiuying was arrested and taken to the Guihualou Detention Center on February 24, 2016. She was transferred to the Shizhushan Detention Center after 15 days.

16. [Wuhan City, Hubei Province] Ms. Shen Shuling Detained

Ms. Shen Shuling was arrested by officers from the Hanzhong Police Station on March 31, 2016. She was detained in a detention center for 15 days, after which she was transferred to the Wuhan City No. 1 Detention Center.

17. [Rong County, Sichuan Province] Ms. Zhu Yuying Detained

Ms. Zhu Yuying was arrested on March 30, 2016. Three of her relatives, non-practitioners Mr. Liu Zaiyi, Ms. Zhang Huili, and Ms. Zhang Lihui, were also arrested.

They were all detained for 15 days and the three non-practitioners were released on April 15. Ms. Zhu is still detained in a detention center.

18. [Dayi County, Sichuan Province] Three Practitioners Harassed

The homes of Ms. Xiong Wenjun, Ms. Li Xueying, and Ms. Xiong Xiufang were ransacked on the afternoon of April 4, 2016 by officers from the Hanchang Town Police Station. Jiang Dong, head of Tieqi Village, was in charge of the ransacking. All three were not at home at the time.

The family of Ms. Xiong Wenjun was harassed by three officers from the Hanchang Town Police Station on April 15. The police ransacked her home and confiscated two radios.

19. [Linzhou City, Henan Province] Five Practitioners Arrested

A dozen practitioners’ homes were ransacked and five practitioners were arrested by officers from the Hejian Town Police Station on April 15, 2016, for suing Jiang Zemin.

Arrested were Ms. Li Huasu, Ms. Li Fuying, Ms. Li Shunying, Ms. Li Mingying, and Ms. Bai Niu.

20. [Weifang City, Shandong Province] Ms. Li Zuping Abused in Detention Center

Ms. Li Zuping was arrested on January 6, 2016, and detained in the Weifang City Detention Center. She has held hunger strikes to protest the persecution for more than two months. She is currently emaciated and very weak. She was injected unknown drugs and forced to work. She was also not allowed to do Falun Gong exercises.

21. [Beijing] Ms. Zhang Yinying's Whereabouts Unknown

Ms. Zhang Yinying, 65, was arrested at home by local police officers around March 21, 2016, for distributing informational materials about the persecution of Falun Gong. The police ransacked her home and took her to Changping Detention Center. She was detained for six days.

The police demanded that Ms. Zhang move out of her home, and that the owner cancel her rental contract or be fined 50,000 yuan. Ms. Zhang's whereabouts have been unknown since late March.
