(Minghui.org) A practitioner in Wuchang City is facing trial for refusing to give up her practice of Falun Gong, a spiritual discipline persecuted in China since 1999. She overcame leukemia and other ailments after she began studying and practicing Falun Gong.
Ms. Dong Xiaoli was determined to let others know how government propaganda has misrepresented the practice. The local police arrested her on March 17 this year for giving out Falun Gong literature earlier that day. While she was incarcerated in a detention center, the police ransacked her home and confiscated her personal belongings as evidence that she practices.
Two weeks later her arrest was approved and she was transferred to Harbin Second Detention Center on April 8 to await trial. Her family has hired an attorney to defend her.
Ms. Dong used to have a hot temper. Her parents were unable to discipline her. When she was 12, she stabbed a village official. One time when her mother nagged her, she tried to commit suicide. She went to her grandmother's grave and drank four bottles of pesticide. Her cousin happened to be there and saved her life.
She drank pesticide in a second suicide attempt after she had an argument with her husband. The residual toxins in her blood resulted in the leukemia. The after-effects also included skin ulcers, frequent seizures, and heart and chest problems.
Ms. Dong's mother began to practice Falun Gong in August 1998. Since her mother didn't know how to read, Ms. Dong agreed to help her learn. The day after she read Zhuan Falun, the main book of the practice, she regretted having smashed someone's window to get even with someone the day before. Three days into the reading, she quit smoking, drinking, and gambling. In less than two weeks, her leukemia and other illnesses were gone. In her neighbor's eyes, she became a different person: she was kind, considerate, and altruistic, following the principles of the teachings.
