Additional Persecution News from China – May 15, 2016 (22 Reports)

(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 18 cities or counties in 9 provinces. According to this report, 7 Falun Gong practitioners were subjected to mistreatment during their detention, and at least 35 practitioners were illegally arrested.

1. [Tianjin] Twelve Practitioners Arrested

Twelve practitioners from Beichen District were arrested while they were hanging “Celebrating World Falun Dafa Day” banners on the evening of May 12, 2016. Mr. Fang Keshan, Ms. Zhang Shulan, and Ms. Wang Hui were taken to the Nankai Police Department. Mr. Hou Huilin was taken to the Xiazhuzhuang Police Station. Ms. Wang Jingfen was transferred from the Chenzui Police Station to the Baoding Detention Center. The five other practitioners whose whereabouts are unknown include Ms. Niu Yueqing, Mr. Lan Deman, Ms. Li Jianchun, Ms. Yang Tinglian, Ms. Wang Fengping, Mr. Xu Siliang, and Ms. Yuan.

2. [Weifang City, Shandong Province] Mr. Liu Yulei Officially Placed Under Arrest

Mr. Liu Yulei was arrested and taken to the city detention center by officers from the Development Zone Police Department. He has been officially placed under arrest.

3. [Dalian City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Yuan Xiaoman Detained

Ms. Yuan Xiaoman from Wuchangjie in the Zhongshan District was arrested by officers from the Kunming Street Police Station on the afternoon of May 12, 2016, and her home was ransacked. She was taken to the Yaojia Detention Center the following day.

4. [Daqing City, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Jin Shaoli Taken to Brainwashing Center

Ms. Jin Shaoli is being held in the Qionghai Brainwashing Center in Hainan Province.

5. [Weifang City, Shandong Province] Ms. Xu Huaimei Arrested

Seven or eight people, including officers from the Dayu Police Station and officials from the Dongyuan Residential Committee, tricked Ms. Xu Huaimei into opening the door by turning off her electric power on March 17, 2016. They dragged Ms. Xu downstairs and took her to the police station. They ransacked her home and confiscated Falun Gong books, DVDs, printed materials, and photos of the founder of Falun Gong.

Ms. Xu was released the next day. On the morning of the following day she was arrested again. The police forced her to undergo a physical examination. They also took a photo of her and her fingerprints. She was then taken to a detention center. She was released for health reasons by detention center authorities.

6. [Dalian City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Liu Huizhi Arrested

Officers from the Guangrongjie Police Station broke into Ms. Liu Huizhi's home in Lushun City and arrested her on the morning of May 11, 2016. They ransacked her home and confiscated a computer, Falun Gong books, and photos of the founder of Falun Gong. She was taken to the police station.

7. [Yitong County, Jilin Province] Mr. Zhang Zhen Held in Prison

Mr. Zhang Zhen is being held in a small cell in the Gongzhuling Prison. Family visits are denied.

8. [Datong City, Shanxi Province] Ms. Qin Junping Arrested

Ms. Qin Junping was arrested by officers from the Yunquan Police Department in the Datong Mining Bureau when she was distributing Falun Gong informational materials and talking to people about Falun Gong on the morning of March 19, 2016. The officers ransacked her home that day. They confiscated a photo of the founder of Falun Gong, several copies of Falun Gong books, a DVD player, a cell phone, and over 80 yuan in paper bills with Falun Gong information printed on them. Ms. Qin has since returned home.

9. [Jilin City, Jilin Province] Five Practitioners Arrested

Over 20 officers from the Jiaohe Domestic Security Division arrested Ms. Yang Rui on May 11, 2016, downstairs in the building that Ms. Yang Hongyan lives in.

At the same time they arrested Mr. Wu Maotian at work. Mr. Wu, a non-practitioner, is Ms. Yang Hongyan's son. They took his keys to his mother's home. The officers used the keys to get into Ms. Yang Hongyan's home and arrested her, along with Mr. Zhang Shousheng and Ms. Xia Hui. Ms. Xia, a non-practitioner, is Mr. Wu's girlfriend. The three were covered with black hoods and brutally beaten by the officers. The officers then took Falun Gong books, a computer, a printer, 600 yuan in cash, and two cars.

Ms. Yang Hongyan is being held in the Jilin City Detention Center. Mr. Zhang, Ms. Yang Rui, and Mr. Wu are being held in the Jiaohe Detention Center.

10. [Guiyang City, Guizhou Province] Ms. Liu Fengzhen Missing for 15 Years

Ms. Liu Fengzhen, about 70, has been missing for 15 years. So far, no one has heard anything about her, or her whereabouts.

11. [Yushu City, Jilin Province] Ms. Sun Guijie Detained

Ms. Sun Guijie from Xinzhuang Township was arrested by the city patrol officers on May 11, 2016. She is being held in the Yushu Detention Center. When relatives went to ask about her situation, the detention center staff on duty told them that Ms. Sun is being held for five days.

12. [Pingdu City, Shandong Province] Ms. Wang Shuzhi Arrested

Ms. Wang Shuzhi was arrested by officers from the Chengguan Police Station on May 14, 2016, for distributing Falun Gong informational materials.

13. [Jinan City, Shandong Province] Ms. Tian Suqin Detained

Ms. Tian Suqin from the Yanxiang Residential Community in Lixia District was arrested by officers from the Yaojia Police Station on the afternoon of May 13, 2016. Her home was ransacked, and she was detained for seven days in the Jinan No. 3 Detention Center.

14. [Wuhan City, Hubei Province] Mr. Li and Ms. Wang Jing Arrested

Mr. Li was arrested by officers from the 610 Office in the Wuhan City Police Department and the Domestic Security Division at the Longwan area in Hanyang District on the morning of May 12, 2016. His whereabouts are unknown.

Ms. Wang Jing from Wuchang District was arrested at another practitioner's home in the Longwan area on the morning of May 13, 2016. That practitioner's home was ransacked.

15. [Nong'an County, Jilin Province] Ms. Li Minglan Detained

Ms. Li Minglan was arrested on May 11, 2016. She was taken to the Nong'an County Detention Center.

16. [Longhua County, Hebei Province] Ms. Yu Fengyun Detained

Wang Hui, Cao Jian, and Xin Yanfeng, from the Domestic Secretary Division in the Longhua County Police Department, went to Ms. Yu Fengyun's workplace in plainclothes on the morning of May 11, 2016. Ms. Yu was working on odd jobs. The officers searched the workplace, and then ransacked her home. Ms. Yu is being held in the Chengde City Detention Center.

17. [Changle County, Shandong Province] Ms. Li Fengying Prosecuted

Authorities from the Changle County Procuratorate, on May 4, 2016, suddenly notified Ms. Li Fengying, 78, to hire a lawyer. She also received, on May 11, 2016, a court notice that she was to be prosecuted. It was not until then that she realized that she had been officially placed under arrest.

18. [Jinzhou City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Jing Cuizhen and Ms. Liu Jing Detained

Liu Changjie, officer from the Jinzhou Domestic Security Division of the Taihe Police Department, along with officers from the Nuerhe Police Station, broke into Ms. Jing Cuizhen's home in Hedong Village, Taihe District, and arrested her on the evening of May 10, 2016. They ransacked her home. Ms. Liu Jing, from Hexi Village, who happened to be at Ms. Jing's home, was also arrested. The officers then jumped over Ms. Liu's wall, entered her home, and confiscated a photo of the founder of Falun Gong, and Falun Gong books. Both practitioners were taken to the police station that night. They are now being held in the Jinzhou City Detention Center.

19. [Qixia City, Shandong Province] Three Practitioners Arrested and Extorted

Ms. Wang Shuyun, Mr. Zhang Jinsheng, and his wife Ms. Gong Qingmei were arrested by officers from the Cuiping Police Station when telling people about the persecution of Falun Gong on the morning of May 13, 2016. The three practitioners were released that afternoon after being extorted of several thousand yuan in cash.

Mr. Zhang Xuhua, 68, was arrested at work by officers from the Xianggongzhuang Police Station on May 12, 2016. He was taken to the Jinan City No. 3 Detention Center for five days of detention.

21. [Jinan City, Shandong Province] Mr. Jiao Kai Faces Prosecution

Mr. Jiao Kai, 46, was arrested and taken to the Jinan City Detention Center by officers from the Beitan Police Station in Tianqiao District when they were distributing Falun Gong informational materials on April 2, 2016. The officers ransacked his home twice and confiscated two printers, over a dozen photos of the founder of Falun Gong, over 30 copies of Falun Gong books, over 200 brochures, and printer supplies. Mr. Jiao was released on bail on April 15, 2016. The Tianqiao District Procuratorate is planning to prosecute Mr. Jiao.

Ms. Liu Shuping and Ms. Peng Xiuli from Dumeng County were arrested while producing Falun Gong informational materials on the morning of May 9, 2016. Both practitioners were detained for ten days.
