(Minghui.org) Ms. Fu Ying, a poet, was imprisoned for nine years at the age of 33, simply because she refused to give up Falun Gong.
Now 48, she has filed a lawsuit in 2015 against Jiang Zemin, the former head of the communist regime, for her suffering. Her complaint was mailed to the Supreme People's Court and Supreme People's Procuratorate on June 16, 2015.
Ms. Fu was arrested on July 12, 2001. She was sentenced to a 9-year prison term after 18 months of detention, for practicing Falun Gong.
She was incarcerated in the Liaoning Province First Women's Prison, where she was forced to perform heavy labor for more than 12 hours daily. She was brutally beaten. Her poetry book was confiscated and not returned to her.
Ms. Fu, who took care of her niece after her release in 2010, moved to Shenyang in 2012. However, she was arrested again on August 28, 2013 and detained for more than a month. Her niece was forced to drop out of school.
Ms. Fu married Mr. Ouyang Hongbo, also a practitioner, in May 2014. He was arrested on July 16, 2014 and tortured. He was sentenced to a six-year prison term.
More information about Mr. Ouyang can be found here: Shenyang Entrepreneur Arrested and Tortured for Practicing Falun Gong.
Ms. Fu's younger sister was detained for 13-and-a-half years, leaving her daughter without her care since the age of 3.
Ms. Fu Ying's mother Ms. Tong Shuping and her two sisters, Ms. Fu Qiang and Ms. Fu Yan, are also Falun Gong practitioners.
Ms. Tong was arrested three times after the persecution began. She once went into hiding to avoid being persecuted.
Ms. Tong has taken care of Ms. Fu Yan's daughter since 2001 and unsuccessfully tried to rescue Ms. Fu Yan in 2010. She passed away at the age of 78.
Ms. Fu Yan, an entrepreneur, was arrested in 2001, at the age of 29, leaving her three-year-old daughter behind. She was given three years of forced labor, and was sentenced to eight years of prison in February 2003.
She escaped after a month from the hospital where she was being treated for heart disease and high-blood pressure. However, she was arrested again after two months. Her prison term was extended by five-and-a-half more years because of her escape. She served in the same prison as her sister Fu Ping.
Her husband divorced her in 2008.

Ms. Fu Qiang wrote an appeal letter for the right to practice Falun Gong soon after the persecution began. She was given one-and-a-half year of forced labor and released on medical parole. She was arrested again in 2002 and detained for two weeks.
Their father passed away in 2008, while his daughters were in prison.
In 1999, Jiang Zemin, as head of the Chinese Communist Party, overrode other Politburo standing committee members and launched the violent suppression of Falun Gong.
The persecution has led to the deaths of many Falun Gong practitioners in the past 16 years. More have been tortured for their belief and even killed for their organs. Jiang Zemin is directly responsible for the inception and continuation of the brutal persecution.
Under his personal direction, the Chinese Communist Party established an extralegal security organ, the “610 Office,” on June 10, 1999. The organization overrides police forces and the judicial system in carrying out Jiang's directive regarding Falun Gong: to ruin their reputations, cut off their financial resources, and destroy them physically.
Chinese law allows for citizens to be plaintiffs in criminal cases, and many practitioners are now exercising that right to file criminal complaints against the former dictator.
