(Minghui.org) I read an article recently about a practitioner who slacked off in her cultivation practice. Whenever she felt physical discomfort or her illness karma symptoms worsened, she would study the Fa and join other practitioners to send forth righteous thoughts. But after her symptoms passed she just indulged herself again among everyday society.

Cultivation practice is indeed serious. After this cycle repeated several times, this practitioner's life finally came to an end. As she was dying she felt regret and wanted another chance, but it was already too late.

I have observed similar situations in my local area. A similar thing happened to our former coordinator.

We live in a city in Jilin Province with a population of about 400,000. Practitioner A had been coordinating our group practice sites for a long time. After the persecution started in 1999, because of fear he dared not interact with other practitioners, nor did he step forward to tell others the facts about Falun Gong or to oppose the suppression. Some practitioners attempted to contact him to encourage him to step forward, unsuccessfully.

Practitioner A passed away two years ago. He had been in good health before that, but a sudden physical condition led to his hospitalization. Medical treatment failed to help and he lost his life. In fact, he had gone through a similar incident previously, and he was brought back to life through emergency treatment. But the harsh lesson did not awaken him to become diligent in cultivation. When it happened again, it took his life.

His mother-in-law, Practitioner B, later had a dream, in which practitioner A told her that Master did not acknowledge him as a Dafa disciple because of his slackness. Practitioner A asked his mother-in-law to submit a Solemn Declaration to the Minghui website. But Practitioner B did not do anything.

Later Practitioner B also displayed illness karma symptoms and was hospitalized. She had the dream again while in hospital, where Practitioner A made the same request. We discussed this, but did not know what to do. In the past, we had submitted Solemn Declarations to Minghui after some practitioners had given up practice because of severe torture during detention. But all those declarations contained statements about making more effort to catch up and make up the losses caused. Since Practitioner A already passed away, how would that work in this situation?

Master wrote,

“I do not want to see a single student fall, but I definitely don’t want unqualified disciples, either.” ("Drive Out Interference," Essentials for Further Advancement II)

Through the years, Master has spoken many times in many lectures, telling us to do well as Dafa disciples. More specifically, we should cultivate well, debunk the hate propaganda, and send forth righteous thoughts.

This is our mission and there is no excuse for not doing it. If we fail to live up to our vows, many people will have no future and we will bear responsibility for that.
