(Minghui.org) Ms. Lu Chunxia and her nearly two-year-old daughter were arrested by the Guangzhou City 610 Office on July 29, 2016, when she was visiting family in Shishi City, Fujian Province. She is currently being detained in a brainwashing center operated by the Baiyun District Huangshi Street Residential Committee in Guangzhou City.
Ms. Lu and her daughter were illegally arrested at noon on July 29, 2016 in Yongning Village, Shishi City, Fujian Province. They were taken back to Guangzhou City, and detained at the brainwashing center.
Officers from the Huangshi Street Police Station phoned Ms. Lu's husband the next day and said that he could come to take his wife home. But when he got there, he was questioned by the 610 Office regarding to his filing of criminal complaints against Jiang Zemin, former head of the Chinese Communist Party, for persecuting Falun Gong. Ms. Lu's husband refused to cooperate with them. He was able to leave, but could not bring his wife and child home.
Ms. Lu's sister went to the police station and inquired about her sister on the morning of July 31. She was told she needed to go to the Huangshi Street Residential Committee. When she got there, she was not allowed to see her sister or her niece. She was told that Ms. Lu's husband had to come back and handle this.
Ms. Lu's husband has been harassed by police several times before for suing Jiang Zemin. Because he knew that the 610 Office and local police were trying to have him come to the police station in order to arrest him, he was forced to leave home.
Ms. Lu's father traveled from another city to see his daughter. He and Ms. Lu's sister went to the local 610 Office on August 3 and asked that Ms. Lu and the young child be released. The director, Zhang Guangming, refused to let them see Ms. Lu. He threatened them and said that he would send Ms. Lu to the Guangzhou City brainwashing center, and the child would be sent to a welfare center for children.
After being held for almost a week, the two-year-old was given to Ms. Lu's father by the Huangshi Street Residential Committee on August 4. However, since Ms. Lu's father is in his seventies, caring for the small child is difficult, and she cries constantly for her mother.
