(Minghui.org) Mr. Lian Jing, a retired geologist from Shenbei New District, was sentenced to three years incarceration following a recent secret trial in Shenbei New District Court.
According to the court staff, Mr. Lian insisted that he was innocent during the trial.
Mr. Lian, in his late 60’s, was talking to a soldier about the persecution of Falun Gong outside an army camp on April 26, 2016. The young soldier refused to listen. Instead, he physically attacked an elderly man and called the police.
Some police officers came to Mr. Lian’s house in the evening, and told Mr. Lian's wife, “Your husband was beaten up by soldiers at the Liuwang Army Camp. We received a phone call and arrested him.
Following a home search, the police confiscated Falun Gong books, truth clarification materials, and a computer.
After the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) began to persecute Falun Gong, Mr. Lian refused to stop practicing. Thus, he was given a 15 months term and taken to a labor camp in 2002.
Life Before Cultivation
Earlier in his career, Mr. Lian spent years surveying the outdoors. During one expedition, he fell from a tree and sustained a serious concussion. Despite frequent hospital visits and medication, he was not able to recover his health. He suffered from headaches and dizziness for many years.
After Mr. Lian began to practice Falun Gong in the 1990’s, he completely recovered. He no longer had any headaches, and recovered from his other illnesses.
One day he was hit by a vegetable vendor’s tricycle and fell to the ground. Bystanders saw the accident and blamed the vendor for it. They demanded the vendor take Mr. Lian to a hospital. Mr. Lian used all his strength to stand up, and told the vendor to leave. After a few days, Mr. Lian was fine.
