(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 11 cities or counties in 9 provinces. According to this report, 16 Falun Gong practitioners were subjected to mistreatment during their detention, and at least 6 were illegally arrested.

1. [Weifang City, Shandong Province] Mr. Cao Wanghu's Home Ransacked

Three officers from the Beimeng Town Police Station, Changyi City, broke into Mr. Cao Wanghu's home in Caogezhuang Village, Beimeng Town, and ransacked it on January 14, 2017. They confiscated some Falun Gong books and DVDs of lectures taught by the founder of Falun Gong. Later, more officers came and joined in the ransacking.

2. [Zhucheng City, Shandong Province] Ms. Guan Aiqin and Zheng Arrested and Extorted

Ms. Guan Aiqin and another practitioner with the last name Zheng were reported and arrested on the evening of January 6, 2017, for hanging Falun Gong banners. The officers ransacked their homes and confiscated a car and ID cards. Both practitioners were released after each was extorted of 10,000 yuan in cash.

3. [Shenzhen City, Guangdong Province] Ms. Xiong Wenfang and Non-Practitioner Daughter Detained

Over a dozen officers from the Luohu Police Department and the Sungang Police Station broke into Ms. Xiong Wenfang's home and ransacked it on the evening of October 30, 2016. They confiscated some Falun Gong books, DVDs, booklets, and Falun Dafa symbols. Ms. Xiong's non-practitioner daughter was also arrested.

The daughter was released one month later. She left home in order to avoid the constant harassment. Ms. Xiong was held in the Luohu Detention Center, where she became very thin.

4. [Tangshan City, Hebei Province] Mr. Huang Baotian and Wife Ms. Lu Fenglan Sentenced to Prison

Mr. Huang Baotian and his wife Ms. Lu Fenglan were arrested and taken to the Kailuan Police Department by officers from the Guoyuan Police Station on April 3, 2016, for talking to people about Falun Gong. Their home was ransacked, and they were later transferred to a detention center in Tangshan City.

Ms. Lu began vomiting and had other abnormal reactions after she was arrested. She was released five days later. Her husband Ms. Huang, in his seventies, has remained in the detention center.

The couple were tried at the Lubei District Court on December 7, 2016. Mr. Huang was given a one-year-and-six-month prison term, and Ms. Lu a one-year prison term.

5. [Huaibin County, Henan Province] Mr. Fu Yunran Given a Four-Year Prison Term

Mr. Fu Yunran was arrested by officers from the Huaibin County Police Department's Domestic Security Division on September 2, 2015. The officers ransacked his home and confiscated his computer, among other items. Mr. Fu has been held in the Xinyang City No. 1 Detention Center for over a year. He was sentenced to a four-year prison term by the Huaibin County Court in mid-December 2016.

6. [Wuhan City, Hubei Province] Ms. Liu Qionghua Taken to Brainwashing Center

Ms. Liu Qionghua, in her seventies, from Jianli County, was arrested by officers from the Zhongnanerlu Police Station on the morning of January 14, 2017, for talking to people about Falun Gong. She was taken to the Yangyuan Brainwashing Center that day.

7. [Shaoyang County, Hunan Province] Mr. Deng Honghua Detained

Mr. Deng Honghua, from Jiutang Village, Lijiaping Town, was arrested on around September 19, 2016, for distributing Falun Gong materials in Fengqiping Township, Qidong County, Hengyang City. No one knew initially where he was. It was later confirmed that Mr. Deng is being held in the Hengyang City Women's Detention Center.

8. [Lanzhou City, Gansu Province] Mr. Ma Jun and Mr. Shi Xiaoquan Detained

Mr. Ma Jun and Mr. Shi Xiaoquan were arrested on January 11, 2017. Both practitioners are being held in the Taoshuping Detention Center, Chengguan District. It was said they were to be detained for 15 days.

9. [Lanzhou City, Gansu Province] Mr. Jin Jilin Locked in Solitary Confinement

Mr. Jin Jilin was sentenced to seven years in prison by the Yuzhong Court in June 2016. He appealed, but the Lanzhou City Intermediate Court upheld the original sentence. Mr. Jin was transferred to the Lanzhou Prison in October 2016. He is not allowed family visits. He is currently being held in solitary confinement.

10. [Huludao City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Liu Yuxin Taken to Dabei Prison

Ms. Liu Yuxin was arrested at home by officers from the Longwan Police Station, Longgang District, on January 5, 2016. The officers ransacked her home and confiscated a computer, many Falun Gong books, and materials.

Ms. Liu was tried twice by the Longgang District Court on May 17 and July 14, 2016. She was sentenced to four years in prison and fined 5,000 yuan. She has been taken to the Dabei Prison, Shenyang City.

11. [Jinzhou City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Yin Qun Arrested

Ms. Yin Qun, from Yi County, was arrested at home by officers from the police departments and Domestic Security Divisions of Jinzhou City and Yi County on the morning of January 14, 2017. The officers ransacked her home and confiscated Falun Gong books, and photos of the founder of Falun Gong, among other items.

12. [Suihua City, Heilongjiang Province] Eight Practitioners Detained

Eight practitioners from Lanxi County were arrested and taken to the Lanxi County Lockup Center on January 5, 2017, for distributing Falun Gong materials. Six female practitioners were transferred to the Qinggang County Detention Center. The detention center refused to admit Ms. Li Yanfang, Ms. Zhang Li, and Ms. Zhang Yajie after they failed the physical exam. The three practitioners were returned to the Lanxi County Lockup Center, where they were denied admission as well. They were released on bail, and their families were told to bring them home.

Ms. Liu Guofeng, Ms. Zhang Shuping, and Ms. Liu Shufeng were held in the Qinggang County Detention Center. Mr. Yu Changwen and Mr. Huang Licheng were transferred to the Lanxi County Detention Center.
