(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 11 cities or counties in 7 provinces. According to this report, 5 Falun Gong practitioners were subjected to mistreatment during their detention, and at least 12 were illegally arrested.
Ms. Zhou Shuxia, 68, was arrested on the afternoon of January 9, 2017. She was taken to the Weizigou Detention Center for 10 days of detention. The police ransacked her home and confiscated over 60 copies of Falun Gong books.
Ms. Chen Ling, the eldest daughter of Mr. Chen Tingxiang and Ms. Sun Xiuying, was summoned by officers from the Qingshui Police Station on January 11, 2017. She was arrested and taken to the Liaocheng Detention Center that day for writing letters to the Guan County Court, the Political and Legal Affairs Committee, and the Police Department appealing on behalf of her parents.
Her parents, who are Falun Gong practitioners, were arrested by officers from the Beitao Town Police Station and the Qingshui Town Police Station in 2016. Mr. Chen was tried at the Guan County Court in December 2016. He is held in the Guan County Detention Center. Ms. Sun and her daughter are held in the Liaocheng Detention Center.
Ms. Wang Lixia was tried and sentenced to two years in prison by the Qinzhou District Court on December 29, 2016. She was taken to the Lanzhou City on January 10, 2017.
Mr. Cao Ming from the Jiangcao Administrative Village, Shangxiao Township, was sentenced to four years in prison by the Zhengning County Court in late December 2016. Mr. Cao has appealed to the Qingyang City Intermediate Court on January 10, 2017.
Mr. Zhang Chuntai was arrested at work by officers from the Dunhuanglu Police Station, Qilihe District, on January 10, 2017.
Ms. Wang Xiuzhen, her daughter Ms. Zhao Yangsi, both from Qiqihar City, Heilongjiang Province, and Mr. Xi Chongdi, from Sichuan, were arrested in the Buji Neighborhood, Longgang District, Shenzhen City, on the morning of January 13, 2017. The police ransacked their homes and confiscated computers, cell phones, and over 100 copies of Falun Gong books.
Ms. Xu Haihong, 54, from the Shuangfengdao area, Nankai District, was arrested by plainclothes officers from the Wangdingdi Police Station on January 5, 2017 for distributing Falun Gong materials. She is held in the Nankai Police Department Detention Center.
Ms. Sun Yulan, 71, from Heshunyuan Residential Community, was deceived into opening her door by five or six officers from the Wenhualu Police Station on the morning of January 10, 2017. She was arrested and taken to the police station. She was later taken to the Tangshan No. 1 Detention Center.
Mr. He Zhirong was arrested on January 4, 2017 for talking to people about Falun Gong in Tingliuhe Town, Laoting County. Ms. Li Li, in her 60s, was also arrested at that time. Both practitioners are held in the Laoting Detention Center.
Ms. Bai Daiyu was arrested at the ID checkpoint at the Mianyang City Train Station, by security officers on the morning of January 6, 2017. She was body searched and interrogated. The officers confiscated two copies of Falun Dafa informational materials. The officers attempted to draw blood samples from her, but did not succeed. She was released that evening.
Ms. Wu Yuchun was reported on the morning of December 24, 2016 for talking to people about Falun Gong in Fenggu Town. She was arrested and taken to the Fenggu Police Station. Zhao Yijiang, an officer from the Fucheng District Police Department's Domestic Security Division, interrogated and threatened her. He forced her to write a guarantee statement to stop distributing Falun Gong materials.
Her husband and daughter were called to the local police station. They were asked to monitor the whereabouts of Ms. Wu and restrict her personal freedom.
Ms. Liu Suoqin from Nanzhai Village, Qizhen Town, was arrested at home by Zhang Qiusheng, a staffer at the Qizhen Town Comprehensive Office, and Yang Jianlao and Zhang Xiaohui, officers from the Qizhen Police Station, on December 23, 2016. The officers confiscated a large number of Falun Gong books and materials. Ms. Liu was released after her family was extorted for 500 yuan.
