(Minghui.org) Ms. Wang Xiuping, 54, began practicing Falun Gong in 1996. After the communist regime’s persecution of the spiritual practice began on July 20, 1999, she was arrested, detained, fined, and had her home ransacked multiple times. She lost her job at a middle school affiliated with Shandong Agricultural University.
Because she refused to give up the practice, Ms. Wang was sent to a forced labor camp from December 2006 to June 2008. She was later incarcerated at Shandong Women's Prison from October 2009 to October 2012.
On July 15, 2014, she was again arrested and later sentenced to three and a half years in prison. The following is Ms. Wang's account of the torture she suffered during her second term at Shandong Women's Prison.
* * *
For a while, I was monitored 24 hours a day by other inmates. I was forced to stand all day and sometimes sit all day without moving. I had to ask permission to eat, sleep, and use the toilet. When I didn't follow their rules, they beat and verbally abused me. My hands, feet, and legs all swelled from not moving for a prolonged period of time.
One inmate, in particular, grabbed me by the collar and almost suffocated me. “I know the bone structure of your neck,” she sneered and pointed. “If I just break this little bone here, you will die instantly.”
When I fell from exhaustion, she grabbed me by my clothes and dragged me around in circles.
When I tried to do the Falun Gong exercises in the bathroom, several inmates beat me. They forced me to stand with my legs together and arms on the sides. When I couldn't stand anymore and sat down, they pulled me up and slammed me to the ground repeatedly. My body was covered with bruises.
One inmate used a toilet brush on my teeth, face, and hair. The prison guards instigated inmates to cover my eyes and mouth with mops. When I washed my clothes, they hung mops next to them. For a long time, my clothes were contaminated and caused red blisters on my left shoulder.
Sometimes, they would take my food away so I would not have anything to eat. During dinner one night, an inmate named Liao Xianhui took away my bowl and threw my cornbread onto the ground. When I picked it up, she started clawing it out of my hand, turning it into bits that fell on the floor, where she ground it down with her feet.
The guards turned the other way when they saw inmates assaulting me.
I almost broke down from the endless beatings and humiliation. I was forced to denounce Falun Gong. Then, I had to watch propaganda videos defaming Falun Gong and write “thought reports.” I had to do whatever they told me to do and say whatever they wanted me to say. I was like a zombie under their complete control.
I was filled with guilt. It was worse than being dead. After a few months, I nullified all the words I said and wrote after being forcibly “transformed.”
