(Minghui.org) I was arrested and put in a detention center at the end of 2015. The head of the 610 office and head of the domestic security division interrogated me for two reasons: One was to force me to admit that I had handed out truth-clarification materials. They also wanted me to say that I would no longer practice Falun Gong. As long as I cooperated, they would let me go home. Otherwise, I would be sentenced to three to four years in prison.
Every time they interrogated me, I only told them the facts and exposed the truth that the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) has been harvesting Falun Gong practitioners' organs for profit. I also told them that good deeds would be rewarded and bad deeds would be punished.
From the day I was arrested, I acted according to the principles of what Master Li Hongzhi (the founder of Falun Gong) taught us. I did not cooperate with the police, nor did I sign any documents or provide any information about myself. At the same time, I looked inside myself for attachments and loopholes.
I asked Master to help me to maintain my righteous thoughts: “I am a disciple of Master Li Hongzhi. I only accept Master’s arrangement and do not accept any other arrangements, I disintegrate the dark minions and rotten demons of the old forces and eliminate the evil Communist specter and all of the bad factors in other dimensions that control the police and the 610 Office to persecute Falun Gong practitioners.”
I knew that even if I had loopholes, Master would arrange for me to improve in studying the Fa and in cultivating my character. I would strive to do the three things well and not follow the old forces arrangements.
Every day, I immersed myself in righteous thoughts, memorized the Fa, and looked inward. Upon seeing the inmates quarreling, I saw my attachment to fighting. When hearing others talking about their income and what they bought before they were in captivity, I saw my attachment to personal gain.
At the Chinese New Year, everyone was homesick and cried. I also could not help shedding tears. I knew this was caused by my attachment to affection. I had to get rid of it! Besides that, I also wanted to find a better place to air my clothes in the open field. I immediately realized this wish was selfish. So, I tried to get rid of my attachments little by little. It was my desire to fully display the compassionate nature of Falun Gong to everyone in the detention center.
I was arrested on December 16, 2015. The CCP had quotas for how many people a police station should arrest in one year. The officers would not get bonuses if they did not meet the quota by the end of the year. Those inside had been arrested for all kinds of reasons. I did not care why they were there. For me, they all came to listen to the truth of Falun Gong.
A small businesswoman from Zhejiang Province was very nice. She was arrested because she sold some medicine online. When I told her the facts and asked her to quit the CCP, she said that one of her friends had already helped her to, but she was not quite clear why she should.
She asked me some basic questions, and I told her the truth behind the staged self-immolation in Tiananmen Square and why the former Chinese leader Jiang Zemin persecuted Falun Gong. I also told her that withdrawing from the CCP was an act of self-salvation.
The others were listening to what I told her. Lastly, I said, “It is not good that you ended up in this detention center, a hell on earth. But you met me, a Falun Gong disciple, and are able to understand the truth. It means you will have a bright future when the CCP falls. This is an example of how a bad thing can turn out to be a good thing.”
Anyone who understood the truth was grateful and thanked me. Some of the prisoners said, “You suffer to save us. When will you go home?” I replied with a smile, “When you all quit the CCP, I will go home.”
A prisoner cell head quit the CCP after listening to me clarify the truth. But from time to time, she would repeat the CCP propaganda. Fortunately, the businesswoman from Zhejiang told me that she would talk about it with her. One by one, the businesswoman replied to her statements. Eventually, the cell head had nothing more to say.
I believe this businesswoman fully understood the truth. When she gets out of the detention center, I thought, she would be a walking advertisement for the facts about Falun Gong and would tell her relatives and friends about the truth of the persecution.
A casino owner was arrested and stayed with me, too. After I helped her quit the CCP, she asked me to teach her the poems in Hong Yin. She had a good memory and said, “How wonderful Falun Gong's Master’s poems are! The CCP is bound to fall.” She was released in half a month. I believe she understood how to be a good person.
At the end of the year, so many people were arrested that the cells were packed. When there were not enough beds, many had to sleep on the floor. The cells were meant to hold 20 people each, but there were more than 30 in those cells. After they understood the truth, however, they were released one after another. A lot of people said that they would practice Falun Gong after they were released.
After being held in custody for nearly six months, I was taken to court. On my way to the courthouse, I sat with a male prisoner in the police car. I told him about quitting the CCP and he agreed. I also told him to remember “Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance is good. Falun Gong is good!” He promised that he would.
At court, I was told to wait in a small cell. I sent forth righteous thoughts and recited Master's poem:
“A Great Enlightened One fears no hardshipHaving forged an adamantine willFree of attachment to living or dyingHe walks the path of Fa-rectificationconfident and poised”(“Righteous Thoughts and Righteous Actions” in Hong Yin Vol. II)
At that moment, the judge came to ask me, “Did you confess?” I said, “I cultivate by the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance. I am innocent. I didn’t commit any crime.”
During the trial, the judge asked me, “You were sentenced to two years in a labor camp in 2001. Why did you continue to practice it?” I replied, “I had been always sick before I practiced Falun Gong. Afterwards, all my illnesses were healed.
“Master teaches us to be kind and considerate of others. Li Dongsheng, the former director of the 610 Office, and Zhou Yongkang, secretary of the Politics and Law Committee have all been imprisoned. Good deeds will be rewarded and bad conduct is punished as a natural consequence. Please do not be used as a scapegoat for Jiang Zemin's persecution of Falun Gong.”
Although the judge interrupted me many times, I continued, “I hope you will stand on the position of impartiality and make a fair verdict. I hope that all of you will remember ‘Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance is good. Falun Gong is good!’ and choose a beautiful future for yourself and your family.”
When I finished talking, the courtroom was silent. Finally, the judge said, “Prosecutor, please render sentencing.” The prosecutor said: “I will not make sentencing.” He said that twice. When the prosecutor had tried me, I had told him the truth. Although he did not quit the CCP, his performance in court proved that he understood the truth. I was glad for him; another life was saved.
After eight days, I was taken to the court again. But the prosecutor's demeanor had changed, and he said something to slander Falun Gong. This time they did not let me make a statement. The verdict that I would be sentenced to two years in prison came nearly a year after my detention. I appealed to the Intermediate Court. Three months later, two people from the Intermediate Court came and asked me some questions. At that time, I wrote a defense on their allegations against me. I was not guilty of any crime and demanded the release on the basis of my innocence.
During this period of time, I did not get depressed because I was sentenced to two years in prison. I knew it was an illusion, not real. I discussed with fellow practitioners. I said, “The appeal is a negation to the evil persecution. I only care about the process, not the result. Master arranges everything.”
Finally, the Intermediate Court decided to reopen the trial and directed me to sign a consent. I refused to sign. I continued to send forth righteous thoughts every day. I would not accept the evil's persecution of me. My path is arranged by Master!
There was a cell meeting every day from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. The other practitioners and I used this hour to recite the Fa and send forth righteous thoughts. Each person had to say something. Ordinary prisoners would say something like they were homesick, missed their children, etc. My speech was always the same, “Falun Gong is good. You will be blessed if you repeat these words. The world needs Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance. If you keep those words in your mind, good fortune will follow you. I am not guilty of a crime and should be released immediately.” Every day, I said the same thing and just wanted people to remember that “Falun Gong is good, Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance is good.”
During the fifteen and a half months in the detention center, I helped more than a 100 people quit the CCP. I changed cells three times. No matter where I was, I displayed the goodness of Dafa and conducted myself according to Dafa’s requirements. I was 60-years-old, but I was healthier than a lot of people in their thirties. If anyone had any difficulty or needed any help, I always tried my best to help. The heads of all the three cells respected me. Some asked me to teach them the exercises. All the people from the cells I stayed in understood the truth. Although a few of them did not quit the CCP, they acknowledged that Falun Gong practitioners are good people.
Whenever I wanted to clarify the truth, nobody stopped me. I sang Dafa songs while working or at cell meetings. Almost all of them said that the Dafa songs were really nice. The cell head even asked me to teach her the song of Salvation word by word to prisoners. She exclaimed, “Salvation is my favorite. I want to cry whenever I listen to this song.” She named Salvation as our official cell song. Thereafter, whenever we had a cell meeting, she asked me to lead the songs of Salvation and Falun Gong is good! Everyone in the cell sang.
On the afternoon I was acquitted, everyone was shouting and brimming with excitement. Someone said, “It's right that you were acquitted!” Another cellmate exclaimed, "Dear Auntie, we’ll miss you!” Everybody came and hugged me.
Under Master’s protection, I negated the persecution imposed on me by the old forces. After I got out of the detention center, I looked up at the sky, pressed my two hands in front of my chest and said to Master Li, "Thank you, Master! I am sorry for having made some trouble for you!”
I was also grateful to the practitioners who notified Minghui.org as soon as I was detained and exposed the evil-doings in the detention center. I also want to thank fellow practitioners who made phone calls from outside China as well, which greatly deterred the evildoers and showed the powerful effect of righteous thoughts from Falun Gong disciples’ one-body.
