(Minghui.org) Mr. Liang Zhihong was home alone on December 4, 2017 when police opened his door with a master key and arrested him. He has since been held at Qianjin Detention Center.
The Shenyang City resident was targeted because he filed a criminal complaint in 2015 against former Chinese dictator Jiang Zemin for initiating the persecution of Falun Gong that resulted in his family’s tremendous sufferings.
Mr. Liang and his wife, Ms. Wu Limei, both practice Falun Gong, for which they were forced to pay a dear price under Jiang’s persecution policy. Mr. Liang was first arrested in July 2001 and soon sentenced to six years in prison. Ms. Wu struggled to raise their two boys, who were only 7 and 2 at the time.
The family reunited in 2007 when Mr. Liang was released, but it was torn apart again in June 2012 when Ms. Wu was arrested and later sentenced to five years in prison.
Ms. Wu was released in June 2017, only to see her husband arrested again six months later.
Mr. Liang’s older brother, Mr. Liang Zhihong, has been sentenced to 3 years in prison for also filing a criminal complaint against Jiang in 2015. The older Mr. Jiang was jailed for three years following his earlier arrest in 2001.
Ms. Wu worries if her husband will face the same fate as his brother.
In 1999, Jiang Zemin, as head of the Chinese Communist Party, overrode other Politburo standing committee members and launched the violent suppression of Falun Gong.
The persecution has led to the deaths of many Falun Gong practitioners in the past 16 years. More have been tortured for their belief and even killed for their organs. Jiang Zemin is directly responsible for the inception and continuation of the brutal persecution.
Under his personal direction, the Chinese Communist Party established an extralegal security organization, the “610 Office,” on June 10, 1999. The organization overrides police forces and the judicial system in carrying out Jiang's directive regarding Falun Gong: to ruin their reputations, cut off their financial resources, and destroy them physically.
Chinese law allows for citizens to be plaintiffs in criminal cases, and many practitioners are now exercising that right to file criminal complaints against the former dictator.
In its “registration system reform opinions,” the Supreme People's Court in China claimed that it would guarantee the registration and processing of all complaints filed. This new policy was to take effect on May 1, 2015.
