(Minghui.org) I browsed the Internet for information about traditional Chinese medicine in 2015. A series of television programs by NTD Television, which is headquartered in New York, introduced two doctors on some of the episodes. Both said that they practiced Falun Dafa, which caught my interest.
A friend of my father gave me two Falun Dafa books when I was in the sixth grade, one being Zhuan Falun and the other Falun Gong.
However, because of the persecution of Falun Dafa in China, my mother demanded that I give away the books. Since I had read Zhuan Falun and felt that the book was good, I just kept them hidden.
Given my new interest in Falun Dafa, I fetched the books and went on my cultivation path.
I have practiced Falun Dafa for one-and-a-half years. But I did not understand what constituted a real cultivation until about six months ago.
For example, I did not understand what “looking within” meant, nor did I comprehend what doing real cultivation was all about. I thought that as long as I studied the Fa and did the exercises every day, I was practicing cultivation. Also, looking within for me was just like what I knew about self-examination.
After I later read the first chapter in the Nine Commentaries on the Communist Party, my mind became clear on what cultivation was all about.
For some time, my mind was manipulated by the fear of illness and related symptoms. I then realized it was the negative substances generated by my fear. In reality, the negative interference was not sent by my main consciousness, but was interference by notions formed during my life, by thought karma, and by other external sources.
When I studied “Your Main Consciousness Should Dominate” in Zhuan Falun, I gained further understanding about the negative messages. But being able to handle them more correctly came after studying a paragraph in “Teaching the Fa at the Western U.S. Fa Conference.”
Master said:
“You should first of all eliminate bad thoughts through cultivation. The reason you can get rid of those bad things is that you don’t acknowledge them as you. That is extremely crucial. It is because you don’t acknowledge them as you that you can then eliminate them. The fact is, they really aren’t you. They are the various notions, or even karma, developed from the things you have done after birth—those things.” (Teaching the Fa at the Western U.S. Fa Conference)
Based on Master's Fa, I started to deny the negative messages. Regardless of whether this was effective at the moment or not, I just kept denying them for one to two months. Even my father recognized that I had changed, and encouraged me in continuing on my cultivation path.
After producing images for various truth clarification projects, I realized what “from the heart” and “being responsible” entailed. I understood that I should consider the Fa and sentient beings when imaging. That is, producing images shouldn’t become a mere formality.
I let go of human notions and changed my way of thinking. I listened carefully during the image review, and then made changes according to what was required, instead of using my human notions.
When I was invited to make images for a writing team, I became aware that I still held the attachments to jealousy and showing off. I learned to put these aside and could then complete what I set out to do.
In my work I chose to put sentiment aside. When I did so, every image produced was a life. Only by putting aside my attachments could I discard any images inappropriate to the project.
