Harassed and Home Ransacked Repeatedly
Ms. Chen has been harassed and had her home ransacked many times since former Chinese Communist Party (CCP) leader Jiang Zemin launched the persecution against Falun Gong in 1999.
Pressured by the Zhongyuan Oilfield's 610 Office, Ms. Chen's husband was forced to turn in all of his wife’s Falun Gong books.
When Ms. Chen visited her parents during Chinese New Year in 2000, officers from the Xinglong Community Police Station harassed her and made her go to the police station for interrogation.
Ms. Chen was also harassed many times by the Retirement Office staff from 2000 to 2002. They forced her to attend brainwashing sessions and made her sign a guarantee statement to not go to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong.
Officers from the Domestic Security Division of the Zhongyuan Oilfield broke into Ms. Chen's home in 2005 and confiscated her Falun Gong books. They sent Ms. Chen to one year of forced labor. Later, the police spared her after they extorted a large sum of money from her family.
Officers from the Puyang City Domestic Security Division ransacked Ms. Chen's home in January 2007. They confiscated her Falun Gong books, a computer, Falun Gong informational materials, and other personal belongings. The police also harassed her husband several times. Because he was under a lot of pressure he eventually divorced Ms. Chen. The Zhongyuan Oilfield 610 Office then pressured Ms. Chen to write a guarantee statement to renounce Falun Gong.
The community officials harassed and monitored Ms. Chen for several days during the Beijing Olympic Games in 2008.
Officers from the Puyang City Domestic Security Division, Procuratorate, and other departments ransacked Ms. Chen's home again on November 30, 2011. They confiscated Falun Gong books, and other informational materials and registered them as criminal evidence. The officials ransacked Ms. Chen's home three more times and interrogated her during the next 20 days.
Two years later, the procuratorate sued Ms. Chen citing the items which the police confiscated as “evidence.” The procuratorate also ordered the community officials to sign legal documents on Ms. Chen's behalf without her consent. The police often harassed Ms. Chen at her home and ordered her to go to the court. But she refused. She suffered a lot physically and mentally and her health rapidly declined.
Ms. Chen filed a criminal complaint with the Supreme People's Court and Supreme Procuratorate online in October 2015, against former dictator Jiang Zemin for persecuting Falun Gong. Two months later, the Zhongyuan Oilfield Police Department harassed her again and searched her computer. The officers said that the Supreme Procuratorate ordered the investigation against her.
