(Minghui.org) We want to share with everyone how the free Epoch Times newspaper helped us to learn about the healing power of Falun Gong and how Falun Gong helped both my wife and me to become healthy.
My wife and I went to North America to help take care of our son’s new baby. Right after the baby was born, however, my wife’s back began to hurt so badly that she could not get out of bed.
We had practiced different kinds of qigong and tai chi in the past, but neither one helped my wife’s back pain this time. Her condition put us in an awkward situation: If we returned to China right away, we’d done nothing to help our son’s family; if we stayed, the medical expenses would continue to pile up. In addition, the doctors couldn’t tell us what was causing her pain.
Since we’d been in North America, we loved to read the free Epoch Times newspaper, which often carries articles about people whose illnesses were cured by Falun Gong. So, when nothing helped my wife’s back pain, we decided to give Falun Gong a try, hoping it would do the same for her.
We began to learn the exercises from the Falun Gong website, falundafa.org. We were amazed to discover that all Falun Gong materials, including the exercise teaching video, exercise music, and the Falun Gong teachings were accessible on the website free of charge.
The five Falun Gong exercises are not hard at all to learn. My wife followed the video by herself. Although her movements were not accurate, she could feel the energy. She told me after doing the exercises for four days that they were helping her. She explained that she could now move with ease and that her back felt very light, whereas she used to feel like she was all tied up.
Miracles indeed occurred to her.
Seeing the changes in her, I began to learn the exercises from the online video, too. I then noticed that all the health problems I often suffered from started to disappear. Although I am in my 60s, I am as healthy and strong as a young man.
After learning the exercises by ourselves, we went to talk to some experienced practitioners, hoping they could answer some of our questions. They told us to read Teacher Li Hongzhi’s teachings, especially the book Zhuan Falun.
By reading the teachings, we’ve come to understand that the purpose of cultivation is not to cure illnesses but to become a better person. Overcoming difficulties can help us eliminate karma, allowing us to elevate to higher levels. If we are genuine practitioners, Teacher Li purifies our body and protects us.
When I did the exercises one day, my face itched. It felt as if a mosquito was biting my cheeks and crawling on my face, but there was actually nothing there. I learned from Zhuan Falun that it was a test for me to see how much I could endure. Since then, I have diligently followed Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance and often remind myself not to slack off in my cultivation.
When I accidentally stuck my finger in a pot with hot oil, I immediately remembered to recite, “Falun Dafa is good; Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance is good,” as a practitioner had told me. The finger hurt only a little even though it turned completely pale. Burns like that are usually terribly painful, but it didn’t bother me at all. I even forgot about it for three days; when I checked my finger then, I saw that it looked like my other ones.
I hit my head on the sharp edge of a metal kitchen cabinet and sliced my forehead open. Blood gushed out, covering my hand and arm when I tried to contain the flow. My wife covered the wound with toilet paper, and I threw the blood-soaked paper into the wastebasket.
We both recited, “Falun Dafa is good; Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance is good.” It stopped bleeding in a few minutes. The cut was about two inches long, but it completely healed in a few days without leaving a scar.
