(Minghui.org) A Suining City resident was sentenced to 7 years and fined 4,000 yuan on December 22, 2016, for refusing to renounce Falun Gong, a spiritual discipline being persecuted by the Chinese communist regime.
Ms. Fang Zhengrong was arrested at home exactly one year before her sentencing. The police didn’t produce a search warrant while ransacking her home. She was tried on October 14, 2016, and sentenced to prison about two months later.
Her lawyer, Mr. Li Guo, submitted her appeal to the Chuanshan District Court shortly after her verdict was announced. By law, the lower court should have forwarded the appeal to the Suining City Intermediate Court for consideration, but Ms. Fang and her lawyer have yet to receive any updates on her case.
It is unclear whether the lower court ever forwarded the appeal, or if the case is stalled in the higher court.
Ms. Fang’s family found out recently that she was no longer incarcerated in Yongxing Detention Center. The guards told them that she had been transferred to a prison, but they refused to reveal where she was.
