(Minghui.org) Mr. Li Hongwei, a 54-year-old Falun Gong practitioner, is suffering from several illnesses after being jailed and tortured.

Mr. Li Hongwei was taken to the Xinrujianfan Prison in the Shenyang Prison City in early September 2016.
He was later transferred to Benxi Prison in October 2016. Ward 8 is the most brutal place in Benxi Prison where Falun Gong practitioners are forced to work more than 12 hours daily without given much food.
In order to make Mr. Li renounce Falun Gong, the guards locked him up in a solitary confinement cell four times and violently beat him repeatedly. They took him to the warehouse and shocked him with electric baton in late March 2017.

As a result of the physical abuses, Mr. Li now often feels dizzy. His eyesight has deteriorated and he can hardly see. One side of his body seems to be paralyzed and he needs help to walk. He is also extremely thirsty, and drinks almost 3 gallons of water a day.
Before practicing Falun Gong, Mr. Li suffered from a number of illnesses, including diabetes and fatty liver disease. He recovered from these illnesses after he began practicing Falun Gong.
Officers from the Wusan Police Station in Hunnan District, Shenyang City arrested Mr. Li when he was posting Falun Gong flyers on June 26, 2016. Hunnan District Court tried Mr. Li on August 3 and delivered its verdict against him two weeks later. He was sentenced to four and a half years in prison and fined 10,000 yuan.
