(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 24 cities or counties in 13 provinces. According to this report, 13 Falun Gong practitioners were subjected to mistreatment during their detention, and at least 33 were illegally arrested.

1. [Yakeshi City, Inner Mongolia] Seven Practitioners Tried

Ms. Xiao Lijuan, Ms. Zhao Deting, Ms. Yan Liping, Ms. Wang Xiujie, Mr. Liu Wenfa, Mr. Zhang Fajun, and Mr. Fang were arrested on October 28, 2016.

The seven practitioners were tried by the Yakeshi City Court on July 6, 2017.

2. [Xilinguole, Inner Mongolia] Ms. Miao Zhilian Detained

Ms. Miao Zhilian was arrested by officers from the Zhenglanqi Domestic Security Division in June, 2017. The officers ransacked her home and confiscated her laptop computers, printers, and her cash.

Ms. Miao is being held at the Zhenglanqi Detention Center.

3. [Beijing] Three Practitioners Arrested

Ms. Li Shuyun, Ms. Fu Yujie, and Ms. Yue Fen were arrested on June 19, 2017.

4. [Nantong City, Jiangsu Province] Ms. Xi Jinyun and Ms. Xi Jinlan Arrested

Ms. Xi Jinyun and her sister Ms. Xi Jinlan were arrested by officers from the Jinsha Police Station on June 1, 2017.

Ms. Xi Jinyun was released that day. Ms. Xi Jinlan was taken to the Nantong City Detention Center.

5. [Dehui City, Jilin Province] Ms. Jiang Yan Sentenced

Ms. Jiang Yan was arrested on November 25, 2016. She was tried on February 28, 2017, and recently sentenced to a three-year prison term by the Dehui City Court.

6. [Xichang City, Sichuan Province] Ms. He Zhengqiong Detained

Ms. He Zhengqion, 54, was arrested on July 8, 2017, for talking to people about the persecution of Falun Gong. She was taken to the Tuohuang Addiction Treatment Center by officers from the Xichang Domestic Security Division.

7. [Tianjin] Ms. Feng Xiumin Arrested

Ms. Feng Xiumin was arrested at her home on July 7, 2017.

8. [Shouguang City, Shandong Province] Ms. Liu Guifen and Ms. Zhen Mingfeng Arrested

Ms. Liu Guifen and Ms. Zhen Mingfeng were arrested by plainclothes officers from the Gucheng Police Station on July 4, 2017. They were taken to the police station and released later that day.

9. [Longkou City, Shandong Province] Five Practitioners Arrested

Ms. Li Yujun, Ms. Ding Chongju, Ms. Wang Fuying, Ms. Han Xia, and Ms. Luan Yanping were arrested at Ms. Li's home by officers from the Xinjia Police Station on July 5, 2017, when they were reading the Falun Gong books together.

The five practitioners were taken to the police station. Ms. Ding and Ms. Wang were released that evening. The rest were taken to the Zhangjiagou Detention Center for a ten-day detention term. Ms. Han was later released because she failed the physical examination.

10. [Jiaozhou City, Shandong Province] Mr. Wang Mingjiang Sentenced

Mr. Wang Mingjiang was sentenced to a six-year prison term and fined 10,000 yuan.

11. [Wuji County, Hebei Province] Mr. Guo Min and Mr. Geng Yiqing Arrested

Mr. Guo Min and Mr. Geng Yiqing were arrested by officers from the Lichengdao Town Police Station on June 29, 2017, for talking to people about the persecution of Falun Gong.

Mr. Geng was held at the Shijiazhuang Detention Center for 15 days. Mr. Guo's family was forced to pay 3,000 yuan.

12. [Xianning City, Hubei Province] Ms. Xia Ziyun Arrested

Ms. Xia Ziyun was arrested and taken to the Wuhan Brainwashing Center on June 22, 2017.

13. [Tianjin] Ms. Liu Hongling Arrested

Ms. Liu Hongling was arrested by officers from the Zhongbei Town Police Station in the Xiqing District on July 7, 2017.

14. [Yiyang City, Hunan Province] Mr. Liang Jianguo Detained

Mr. Liang Jianguo was arrested on June 20, 2017, and is being held at the Nan County Detention Center.

When he was previously detained, he went on a three day hunger strike.

15. [Hengyang City, Hunan Province] Ms. Yang Zhilan Detained

Ms. Yang Zhilan, 70, was arrested by officers from the Zhengxiang Police Department on July 7, 2017, for distributing informational materials about the persecution of Falun Gong.

Ms. Yang was held at the Hengyang City Detention Center for ten days.

16. [Guiyang City, Guizhou Province] Mr. Zhou Xue Arrested

Mr. Zhou Xue was arrested and taken to the Nanming District Detention Center on May 7, 2017.

17. [Anshan City, Liaoning Province] Mr. Gao Jun Detained

Mr. Gao Jun was recently arrested by officers from the Liaoyang Police Department. He is being held at the Liaoyang Detention Center.

18. [Shuangyashan City, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Zhang Lijun's Arrest Approved

Ms. Zhang Lijun was arrested by officers from the Jianshan Police Department on May 25, 2017. She has been held at the Shuangyashan City Detention Center for one and a half months.

Ms. Zhang's arrest was approved by the Jianshan Procuratorate on June 29, 2017.

19. [Hohhot City, Inner Mongolia] Three Practitioners Tortured in Prison

Ms. Pan Lijuan was sentenced to seven years in the Inner Mongolia Women's Prison in March 2016. She was shocked with electric batons on February 24, 2017. Guard Kang Jianwei specifically shocked her mouth, neck, and hands.

Ms. Wang Lei was subjected to the same torture treatment one week later. She was also prohibited from purchasing items from the commissary.

Ms. Wang Xiufang was sentenced to a four-and-a-half-year prison term in the Inner Mongolia Women's Prison. This is her second time in prison. She was sentenced to a three-year term in 2012 and was brutally tortured at the same prison. Her latest arrest and sentencing took place barely a year after her release in 2015.

20. [Shenyang City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Zheng Shuchun Put in Solitary Confinement

Ms. Zheng Shunchun was arrested on September 11, 2016, for posting information about Falun Gong. She was initially sentenced to a seven-and-a-half-year prison term on December 13, but after she appealed, the higher court ruled to reduce her sentence to five and a half years in March 2017.

She was taken to the Liaoning Province Women's Prison on April 18, 2017.

Ms. Zheng's son tried to visit her on May 26, but was turned away. When he finally managed to see his mother in June he noticed that she was in good spirits but had trouble with her speech and hearing. She told him that she was kept in solitary confinement because she refused to renounce her belief in Falun Gong.

21. [Anlu City, Hubei Province] Mr. Huang Xuejun and Ms. Sun Youlan Sentenced to Prison

Mr. Huang Xuejun and Ms. Sun Youlan were recently sentenced to prison by the Anlu City Court, for refusing to renounce their belief in Falun Gong.

Mr. Huang was sentenced to a four-year prison term, and has filed an appeal to the Xiaogan Intermediate Court.

Ms. Sun was given a three-and-a-half-year term, but it's unclear if she intends to appeal her sentence.

22. [Qitaihe City, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Zhao Chunyang Taken to Prison

Ms. Zhao Chunyang, 60, was arrested on May 7, 2016, and tried on November 28. She was sentenced to a three-year prison term for refusing to renounce her belief in Falun Gong, and was taken to the Heilongjiang Women's Prison.

Ms. Zhao, an engineer, filed an appeal with the Qitaihe Intermediate Court, who upheld the original verdict on April 7, 2017.

23. [Longde County, Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region] Mr. Fan Guofu Transferred to Shizuishan Prison

Mr. Fan Guofu was transferred to Shizuishan Prison on May 3, 2017, but his family did not find out until two months later.

Mr. Fan, a former manager of a property insurance company, was arrested on December 18, 2015, for filing a criminal complain against former Chinese leader Jiang Zemin, for initiating the persecution of Falun Gong. Mr. Fan was sentenced to two years in prison in October 2016, and was taken to a pre-prison-admission training center on March 22, 2017.

24. [Linyi City, Shandong Province] Brothers Harassed by Police

Mr. Liu Yongchao, from Linyi City, recently received two inappropriate phone calls.

The first call (from phone number +86-539-7305082) was received on June 26, 2017. The caller wanted to know details about him and his wife. He declined to answer.

The second call (from phone number +86-539-7305035) was received on July 7. The caller claimed to be from a local police station and wanted to know about Mr. Liu's residence and his younger brother Mr. Liu Yongjin's whereabouts. He again refused to answer.

Mr. Liu Yongchao's elder brother, Mr. Liu Yongda, was visited by police officers the following day. The police tried to get the him to reveal information about his two younger brothers.

Mr. Liu Yongchao's younger brother was once imprisoned for seven years for practicing Falun Gong.

25. [Tianjin] Mr. Zhang Jian Tried

Mr. Zhang Jian was tried on July 7, 2017. Prior to the trial, judge Qiao Shuanghong told Mr. Zhang and his family many times that there were only two seats for spectators in the courtroom. However, when his two family members arrived to attend the trial four spectators were already in the courtroom.

The prosecutor alleged that Mr. Zhang had broken the law because the 20,000 yuan the police confiscated from his home had Falun Gong messages written on them.

Mr. Zhang's defense lawyer argued that the police did not produce any form of warrant when they raided Mr. Zhang's home and took him into custody on December 7, 2016. The lawyer also stated that the confiscated money was saved to support Mr. Zhang's parents and son, and that the money was Mr. Zhang's lawful possession.

The lawyer was unable to finish his defense arguments as Judge Qiao kept interrupting him.

Mr. Zhang refused to sign the court documents, and remains in detention.

26. [Gongyi City, Henan Province] Mr. Wang Wenchang and Ms. Cui Suping Facing Trial

Twelve practitioners were arrested on the afternoon of May 30, 2016, after attending the trial of another practitioner, Ms. Bai Chunhua.

Seven of the practitioners were placed under criminal detention, including Mr. Wang Wenchang, Mr. He Chuanlong, Mr. Zhang Yuanheng, Ms. Song Xianmin, Ms. Gao Fengwu, Ms. Bai Xinying, and Ms. Cui Suping.

Mr. He, Mr. Zhang, Ms. Song, Ms. Bai, and Ms. Cui were released on bail awaiting trial on July 12, 2016. Mr. Wang and Ms. Gao were transferred to the Zhengzhou No. 3 Detention Center from Gongyi Detention Center two months later.

The Procuratorate withdrew the charges against Mr. He, Mr. Zhang, and Ms. Song in late 2016. They also withdrew the charges against Ms. Gao and Ms. Bai.

The Gongyi Court planned to try Mr. Wang and Ms. Cui on July 5, 2017.
