The same day, she was illegally detained by police officers and incarcerated for 14 days. Ms. Sun was released on December 2, 2017, and placed under police surveillance.
Authorities from the Bagongshan Police Department sent her case to the Procuratorate in the Bagongshan District on December 26, 2017. The case was submitted to the Bagongshan District Court on February 5, 2018.
Ms. Sun was tried on March 20, 2018. She submitted an appeal letter to the local court and procuratorate in early April 2018. The court accepted her letter, but the procuratorate refused to accept it twice. She was notified that the second trial would be held on April 20, 2018.

On the day before the illegal trial, April 19, 2018, a group of people broke into Ms. Sun's home. They knocked her to the ground, handcuffed her, and took her away. Her family did not hear anything from her afterward.
Her family recently received a phone call from authorities of the Anhui Provincial Women’s Prison demanding that they pay Ms. Sun’s living expenses. The family knew that she had been secretly sentenced and was detained in the prison, but still do not know for how long Ms. Sun was sentenced.
