Additional Persecution News from China – January 16, 2018 (15 Reports)

(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 15 cities or counties in 10 provinces. According to this report, 12 Falun Gong practitioners were subjected to mistreatment during their detention, and at least 15 were illegally arrested.

1. [Qiqihar City, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Liu Mingying Sentenced to a Three-Year Prison Term

Ms. Liu Mingying was sentenced to a three-year prison term by the Longsha Court. She appealed, but her original verdict was upheld. She was taken to the Harbin Women's Prison on January 17, 2018.

2. [Changchun City, Jilin Province] Mr. Li Runfu Sent to Prison

Mr. Li Runfu was arrested by officers from the Changchun City Domestic Security Division and the Qianjin Street Police Station on March 12, 2017. He was sentenced to a three-year prison term by the High-tech Zone Court on December 1, 2017, and taken to Jilin Prison.

3. [Fusong County, Jilin Province] Mr. Gong Chuanlin Detained

Mr. Gong Chuanlin from Lushuihe Town was arrested by officers from the Lushuihe Town Police Station on the morning of December 15, 2017. He was held in the Fusong County Detention Center for ten days.

4. [Wafangdian City, Liaoning Province] Five Practitioners Detained

Ms. Han Xuesong, Ms. Jin Cuixiang, Ms. Han Meiling, Ms. Liu Aimin, Ms. Zhang Yuxia, and Ms. Xu Xiaoyan were arrested by officers from the Liguan Town Police Station on the morning of January 13, 2018, for telling people about Falun Gong at the Tuchengzi farmers market in Liguan Town. The officers confiscated a van and 1,000 yuan in paper bills with Falun Gong facts written on them. Ms. Zhang was released on bail and fined 5,000 yuan after failing the physical exam. The other five practitioners were taken to Jinzhou Detention Center.

5. [Jinzhou City, Liaoning Province] Four Practitioners' Original Verdicts Upheld

The original verdicts for four practitioners were upheld by the Jinzhou City Intermediate Court on January 10, 2018 without a hearing. Ms. Dai Ping was sentenced to a prison term of five years, Ms. Tang Shuyun to two years, Ms. Liu Cuimei to two years and six months, and Ms. Chai Guiyan to a one-year term.

6. [Qingyuan County, Liaoning Province] Ms. Liu Yu Sentenced to a Six-Month Prison Term

Ms. Liu Yu was sentenced to a six-month prison term by the Qingyuan County Court. She is currently being held in the Qingyuan Detention Center.

7. [Tangshan City, Hebei Province] Ms. Wang Huilin and Other Practitioners Arrested

Ms. Wang Huilin and other practitioners from Honghuayuan Village, Huanggezhuang Town, Fengnan District, were recently arrested by officers from the Tangfang Town Police Station for telling people about Falun Gong at the Shiqiaogu farmers market.

8. [Zibo City, Shandong Province] Ms. Guo Guirong Sentenced to Prison

Ms. Guo Guirong was sentenced to three years in prison, with three years of probation, and fined 5,000 yuan by the Zichuan District Court on January 3, 2018.

9. [Qingdao City, Shandong Province] Ms. Song Yun Detained

Ms. Song Yun was reported to police on January 9, 2018 for telling people about Falun Gong. She was arrested on January 10, 2018 and taken to the Pudong Detention Center for 37 days of detention.

10. [Mengyin County, Shandong Province] Three Practitioners Detained

Mr. Wang Yeqin and Ms. Gong Xiumei from Tanbu Town were arrested by officers from the Tanbu Town Police Station and town government staff on the morning of January 12, 2018. The officers confiscated Falun Gong books, computers, and printers. Ms. Gong Xuhua was also arrested that day. Ms. Gong Xiumei was held in Linyi. Ms. Gong Xuhua and Mr. Wang were taken to the Mengyin County Detention Center.

11. [Mian County, Shaanxi Province] Ms. Xiao Yun and Ms. Xue Lijun Arrested

Gou Xingwu, deputy head from the Criminal Police Division, and other officers broke into the homes of Ms. Xiao Yun and Ms. Xue Lijun and arrested them on January 12, 2018. They confiscated Falun Gong books and materials. Ms. Xue was released the following evening, but Ms. Xiao was taken to the Hanzhong Detention Center.

12. [Nanjing City, Jiangsu Province] Ms. Geng Jiping and Ms. Ke Huilan Sentenced to Prison

Ms. Geng Jiping and Ms. Ke Huilan from Liuhe District were released on bail several years ago. Afterwards, the court frequently summoned them for interrogation. The court summoned them again recently, and sentenced them to prison. Ms. Geng was sentenced to a one-year-and-six-month term, and Ms. Ke to a one-year prison term.

13. [Hengnan County, Hunan Province] Ms. Chen Fenliang Arrested

Ms. Chen Fenliang was arrested by officers from the Shuanglin Police Station on the morning of January 15, 2018, for distributing Falun Gong materials in Shuanglin Town.

14. [Wuhan City, Hubei Province] Ms. Huang Shiqun Taken to Brainwashing Center

Ms. Huang Shiqun was arrested and taken to the Qiaokou District Brainwashing Center.

15. [Nanning City, Guangxi Autonomous Region] Mr. Yang Hong Taken to Brainwashing Center

Mr. Yang Hong, 43, was recently taken to the brainwashing center in Nanning City No. 3 Detention Center.
