Additional Persecution News from China – July 4, 2018 (Part I, 13 Reports)

(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 13 cities or counties in 9 provinces. According to this report, 11 Falun Gong practitioners were subjected to mistreatment during their detention, and at least 18 were illegally arrested.

1. [Nong'an County, Jilin Province] Ms. Wang Juan Detained

Ms. Wang Juan was arrested by officers from the Changchun City Police Department on June 23, 2017, for greeting a practitioner who was being released from prison after a nine-year sentence.

Ms. Wang was tried in the Nong'an County Court on March 29, 2018. She was not allowed access to a lawyer, and her family has not yet received the verdict.

Ms. Wang was transferred from the Changchun City No. 4 Detention Center to the Nong'an County Detention Center.

2. [Fushun City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Gao Min Arrested

Ms. Gao Min, 62, was reported to the authorities for talking to people about Falun Gong on the afternoon of July 2, 2018. She was arrested by officers from the Zhanqian Police Station. Her home was ransacked that evening and her Falun Dafa books were confiscated.

3. [Dandong City, Liaoning Province] Mr. Li Quanchen and Another Practitioner Arrested

Mr. Li Quanchen and another practitioner were arrested by patrol officers in Kuandian County on the evening of June 29, 2018, for distributing Falun Gong materials in Kuandian County. The two practitioners' whereabouts are unknown.

Several officers ransacked Mr. Li's shop the following afternoon, but didn't find anything they were looking for. The officers also ransacked the home of a non-practitioner, who was helping out in the store.

4. [Weihai City, Shandong Province] Mr. Liu Bende Arrested

Mr. Liu Bende from the Huancui District was photographed and reported to the authorities while he was talking to others about Falun Gong at Jindi Hotel on the morning of July 1, 2018. He was arrested by officers from the Wenquan Police Station.

Mr. Liu was released that afternoon after he was forced to pay 500 yuan.

5. [Heze City, Shandong Province] Mr. Cheng Fating and His Wife Ms. Sun Mengying Detained

Officers from the Development Zone Domestic Security Division broke into Mr. Cheng Fating's home and ransacked it on May 28, 2018. Mr. Cheng and his wife Ms. Sun Mengying were arrested.

The couple were taken to a detention center. Their shop was closed down. Their young children are now alone, with no one to look after them and they have no money.

6. [Baofeng County, Henan Province] Mr. Wang Yongqi and His Wife Ms. Xu Shuping Arrested

Eight or nine officers from the Chengguan Police Station, the Baofeng County Domestic Security Division, and the Pingdingshan City Domestic Security Division broke into Mr. Wang Yongqi's home in the Guanfu Residential Community and ransacked it on the morning of June 29, 2018.They confiscated a computer, phone, USB flash drive, Falun Dafa books, and other materials. Mr. Wang and his wife Ms. Xu Shuping were arrested.

Mr. Wang was released around 11:00 p.m. that evening, while Ms. Xu was taken to the Baofeng County Detention Center.

7. [Hefei City, Anhui Province] Ms. Li Guozhen and Ms. Ding Ziqing Arrested

Ms. Li Guozhen and Ms. Ding Ziqing were reported to the authorities in Feixi County on June 23, 2018. They were arrested.

Ms. Li was taken to a detention center the following day, while Ms. Ding was taken to a brainwashing center after she failed the physical exam. Ms. Ding's incarceration in the brainwashing center was organized by her neighborhood administration office and work unit.

Ms. Ding has since returned home.

8. [Wuhan City, Hubei Province] Ms. Duan Yuying Arrested

Ms. Duan Yuying was reported to the police by residential community personnel, for distributing Falun Gong materials, on the morning of June 28, 2018. She was arrested and taken to the Zhangjiawan Police Station. The officers confiscated a cell phone from her bag.

Ms. Duan managed to escape at around midday. The officers went to her home later that night, but she was not at home.

9. [Xiangyang City, Hubei Province] Mr. Yan Longyao and Ms. Zhang Yumei Sentenced to Prison, Ms. Yi Fengmin and Ms. Chen Yulian Remain in Detention

Mr. Yan Longyao, Ms. Zhang Yumei, Ms. Yi Fengmin, and Ms. Chen Yulian were reported to the authorities for talking to people about Falun Gong. They were arrested separately in March and April 2018.

Mr. Yan and Ms. Zhang were tried on June 24, and were each sentenced to four years in prison. Ms. Yi and Ms. Chen are still being held in a detention center.

10. [Baojing County, Hunan Province] Three Practitioners Sentenced to Prison

Mr. Guo Caisong was sentenced to an 18-month prison term on March 6, 2018. He is still being held in the Baojing County Detention Center.

Mr. Song Yugang, a teacher in the Angdong Primary School, was sentenced to a four-year prison term at the end of March 2018. He was taken to the Huaihua Prison.

Ms. Ding Lin, a teacher in the Qianling School, was sentenced to a two-year prison term in April 2018. She was taken to the Xiangtan Prison.

11. [Foshan City, Guangdong Province] Ms. Tan Zhihui Detained

Ms. Tan Zhihui, from Heshun Village, Lishui Town, Nanhai District, went to her hometown in Chencun Town, Rong County, Guangxi Autonomous Region around February 23, 2018, to talk to people about Falun Gong.

No one had heard anything from her until last month, when it was learned that she had been arrested by the Guangxi police and taken to the local detention center.

12. [Chongqing] Ms. Zhang Bi Detained

Ms. Zhang Bi, in her 60s, was arrested on June 29, 2018. She is being held in the Shibanpo Detention Center, Yuzhong District.

13. [Jintang County, Sichuan Province] Eight Practitioners Arrested

Over a dozen officers, including Chen Fugang from the Jintang County Domestic Security Division, broke into Ms. Yuan Shuxian's home on the afternoon of June 27, 2018, and arrested eight practitioners, who were studying the Falun Gong teachings together.

The eight practitioners are, Ms. Yuan Shuxian (in her 70s), Ms. Zhou Suzhi (78), Ms. He Deqiong, (71), Ms. Yang (75), Ms. He Weihua (in her 40s), Mr. Chen (in his 70s), Mr. Fan Junru (73), Ms. Deng Wanfang (66), and Ms. He Erjie (in her 60s). Their homes were ransacked, and photos of the founder of Falun Gong and Falun Dafa books were confiscated.

The eight practitioners were taken to the Shuicheng Police Station, where they were fingerprinted.

Ms. He Weihua was taken back to her hometown by officers from the Qingbaijiang Police Station. Five practitioners, over 70 years old, were released.

Ms. Deng Wanfang and Ms. He Erjie remain in custody, and are to be held for five days.
