(Minghui.org) The two sisters of a Shenzhen City, Guangdong Province resident were held in custody for several hours and forced to disclose their personal information when they sought release of their younger brother, who was detained for his faith in Falun Gong.
Falun Gong, also known as Falun Dafa, is a spiritual discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.
Mr. Luo Zhiyin was harassed by the police at his workplace around 4 p.m. on September 26, 2019, and then arrested at home around 7 p.m. that evening. He was sent to Futian Detention Center on September 27.
The police have submitted his case to the local procuratorate, which is in the process of approving his arrest.
Sisters’ Encounter at the Police Station
Upon hearing of Mr. Luo’s arrest, his two older sisters went to Huaqiangbei Police Station on September 28 to inquire about his case. The officer they talked to said that Mr. Luo violated the law, but he couldn’t articulate the specifics nor produce any relevant legal documents. He asked the sisters to contact the National People’s Congress and then abruptly ended the conversation.
He pushed the two sisters out of his office and locked the door. The sisters knocked on the door and attempted to ask more questions, but the officer refused to respond.
The sisters then went to another office. But as soon as the second officer realized that the case was about Falun Gong, he shouted at them and told them to leave, with the excuse that he needed to change clothes.
Mr. Luo’s sisters went to Futian Detention Center on September 29 but were not allowed to visit him. The security guard on duty said the reason was because Mr. Luo's case was still under investigation.
The two women returned to the police station the next day, but the police still refused to reveal who was in charge of the case. They said they would only allow family visits if Mr. Luo had a lawyer.
The officers videotaped Mr. Luo’s sisters and forced them to leave.
On the way out, the sisters ran into Li, the head of the police station, and demanded to talk to him. Li said he was busy and asked the sisters to wait for him.
Eager to get information about their brother, Mr. Luo’s sisters stood at the entrance of the police station to wait for Li. About half an hour later, several officers came out, pushed them back into the police station and demanded to collect their personal information. When they refused to cooperate, the officers held them there until 10 p.m., when they gave in and disclosed information about themselves.
During the few hours the two sisters were held at the police station, the officers kept verbally abusing them.
One officer said, “You are such an ugly woman. I can tell from your clothes that you are a housewife without a job.”
Another officer threatened that they could make their families fall apart.
Intent on rescuing their brother, the two sisters went to the police station on October 4 for the third time. This time, the security personnel didn’t let them go inside. They waited outside of the police station, from 2:50 p.m. to 10 p.m., until police chief Li came out.
Li refused to reveal any information about Mr. Luo and drove away.
