(Minghui.org) Ms. Wang Leying, approximately 60 years old, from Sunwu County, Heilongjiang Province, was tried by the Aihui District Court on May 28, 2019. Her family was told that a verdict would be announced in a month.
Ms. Wang was a farmer. Before she started practicing Falun Gong in 1998, working in the fields was a burden. At that time, she had children in school and her family had little income. She was stressed physically and mentally. In addition, she suffered from various health problems, including Kashin-Beck disease, a disorder of the bones and joints that left her fingers and hands deformed.
In 1998, Falun Gong appeared in her village. People learned that by doing five easy-to-learn exercises and living by the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance to become a good person, they could recover from their ailments and regain their health. Amazingly, the practice was free of charge.
People realized they could save on medical expenses if they did not have to go out of town to see a doctor. Many villagers took up the practice.
People really did recover from their health problems after they started to practice Falun Gong. In Ms. Wang’s case, by studying the Zhuan Falun, doing the exercises, and being a good person according to Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance, she felt relaxed and felt upbeat.
On the afternoon of October 11, 2018, after Ms. Wang picked up her grandson at his school and took him to her son’s home. When she returned home around 4 p.m., officers from the Domestic Security Division and the local police station arrested her outside the building. They claimed that a surveillance video had shown her entering a residential community, after which Falun Gong informational stickers were seen in the hallways.
After Ms. Wang was arrested, her family and lawyer went to the local procuratorate and learned that Ms. Wang had been officially put under arrest on October 22, 2018. The officials said that her case was still being reviewed by the police department and had not yet been filed with the procuratorate. The lawyer had to wait until the case went to the procuratorate before he could review it.
The Sunwu County Procuratorate turned her case over to the Aihui District Procuratorate around October 25, 2018. Ms. Wang's family and lawyer went to the Aihui District Procuratorate to get the file, then to the Heihe City Detention Center to visit her. The lawyer then mailed the non-prosecution opinion and a withdrawal request letter to the Aihui District Procuratorate. The lawyer discussed the case with the prosecutor.
However, Ms. Wang was still put on trial in the Aihui District Court on May 28, 2019. The verdict is pending.
