(Minghui.org) A retired machinery plant worker was sentenced to four years on October 23, 2020, for her faith in Falun Gong, an ancient spiritual and meditation discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.
Ms. Wang Jinglin, a Chengdu City, Sichuan Province resident, was arrested at home on April 8, 2019. The police ransacked her two residences and confiscated her Falun Gong books, materials, photo of Falun Gong’s founder, computer, 1,000 yuan in cash and an unknown amount in U.S. dollars. It was reported that the police arrested Ms. Wang after she was reported for distributing Falun Gong materials in a residential area.
The Wuhou District Procuratorate twice returned Ms. Wang’s case to the police for insufficient evidence, first on August 30 and then in mid-November 2019, before being pressured by the police into indicting her.
Meanwhile, staff members of the local Political and Legal Affairs Committee and 610 Office, two agencies tasked with persecuting Falun Gong, constantly harassed and interrogated Ms. Wang’s daughter and son-in-law.
Ms. Wang appeared in court on August 26, 2020, and was sentenced to four years two months later. She is now preparing to appeal the verdict.
Ms. Wang’s grandson just started elementary school in September 2020. As she helped take care of her grandson in the past, her imprisonment left her family in a difficult situation.
