(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 24 cities or counties in 12 provinces, where at least 37 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.
Ms. Yang Ming and Ms. Luo Changhua were arrested by officers from the Ziliujing Police Department on February 27 and 28, 2020, respectively for distributing Falun Gong materials. Their homes were ransacked, and a large number of personal belongings were confiscated. Their family members signed the one-year release on bail certificates before the two practitioners were released and returned home.
Their cases were turned over to the Ziliujing District Procuratorate. Charges were then filed at the Ziliujing District Court, which decided to open a trial.
Ms. Yang Cuiling, Ms. Wang Yanxin, and Ms. Yue Shuxia in Baoshan District were reported to the police for spreading the facts about Falun Gong in towns and villages under the jurisdiction of Harqin Banner on November 5, 2017. They were arrested by officers from the Harqin Banner Domestic Security Division.
They were tried by the Harqin Banner Court on the afternoon of March 27, 2018. Ms. Yang, 70 years old, told the judge openly and with honor, “It is not a crime at all to practice Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance.” Ms. Yang was given a four-year prison term, Ms. Yue a three-and-a-half-year, and Ms. Wang a three-year prison term.
The three practitioners were taken to the Inner Mongolia Women’s Prison in mid-July 2018. Ms. Wang’s term would end on November 4, 2020. She is expected to return home on November 5 or 6, 2020.
When Ms. Pei Lian was about to go to work when she was arrested by seven or eight plainclothes officers outside the door of her home around noon on October 24, 2020. She was forcibly pushed into a car and taken away while her granddaughter was crying.
Practitioner Zhao Fuying (gender unknown) was reported to the police when posting Falun Gong materials outside Yingcheng City at around 9 a.m. on October 22, 2020. Zhao was arrested by three officers led by Zhou Bing, deputy director of the Chengnan Police Station.
Officers body searched Zhao, took the keys from him and ransacked the home of Zhao. They confiscated 40 Falun Dafa books. Zhao was released at around 3 p.m. that afternoon.
Ms. Su Xianghong, 75, from Shenyang City, Liaoning Province, was previously given two years of forced labor in September 2001, and was held in the Longshan Correctional Center in Shenyang City.
Personnel of the public security, procuratorate, court, and justice organs, under the instruction of Zhuhai City Political and Legal Affairs Committee and the 610 Office, escalate the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners in Zhuhai City on July 12, 2019.
On that day alone, over 20 practitioners were arrested and their homes were ransacked. Elderly Ms. Su who lived alone was one of them. She was arrested by officers from the Jindouwan Police Station, Tanzhou Town, Zhongshan City. Her home was ransacked, and Falun Dafa books, printed materials, a computer, and a printer were confiscated.
Her permit to visit relatives in Taiwan was forcibly seized and border restriction was imposed to stop her from traveling. She was released on bail two days later.
She was prosecuted by the Zhongshan City No. 1 Procuratorate in July 2020. She was sentenced to three years in prison by the Zhongshan City No. 1 Court to be served outside the prison. She appealed to the Zhongshan City Intermediate Court, which rejected her appeal and upheld the original verdict.
Now she lives under residential surveillance, and is every now and then harassed by the staff designated by the Tanzhou Town 610 Office and the Domestic Security Division.
Mr. Liu Wen in Yuexiu District was kept in Guangzhou Locomotive Depot Rescue Workshop, where he works, by Yang Yongcheng, head of the Guangzhou City Brainwashing Center, on October 20, 2020. He was forced to undergo brainwashing there. He was asked to “study” every day from now on. The purpose was to force him to write three statements.
Mr. Yang Jinhan has been back to Chaizhuang Community, Zhangcun Township, Hui County, for over a year. Three officers from the Zhangcun Township Police Station came to ask about his situation. One of them, in uniform, took pictures of him. Another officer Liu, in plainclothes, asked a few questions. Liu revealed that he had been following Mr. Yang for several months.
Someone reported Ms. Liu Hongqin to the police. Four officers from the Guzhai Police Station arrested her at her store at around 10 a.m. on October 21, 2020. An elderly female practitioner was also arrested there. Ms. Liu’s home was ransacked, and photos of the founder of Falun Gong, over 10 Falun Dafa books, and several 2021 New Year desk calendars were confiscated.
After paying a fine of 1,000 yuan, Ms. Liu’s husband brought the two practitioners back at around 7 p.m. The following day, the landlady of Ms. Liu’s rented shop called and told her that the police station would not let her continue to rent her the place. The police told the landlady that Ms. Liu had to leave within a deadline they gave, otherwise the landlady would be fined 10,000 yuan.
Ms. Zhang Haili in Huangdao District was arrested by the Huangdao police at the end of September 2020. She is being held in the Pudong Detention Center.
Ms. Yu Zhanying, 85, was harassed at home by five people from the Laixi Police Department and neighborhood committee on the morning of October 21, 2020. When she was asked if she was still practicing Falun Gong. She replied, Yes! The officers took pictures of her when she was not paying attention.
Chi Jili, Party secretary of Laohudong Village, Song Jianguo, Party secretary of Lanqi Town Government, and Shi Chengxu, deputy head of Township, called Ms. Ma Guizhen’s son and asked him to go to the town government in October 2020.
They asked him to sign paperwork. They told him that his mother was the focus of the authorities, and if he did not sign, it would adversely impact his child’s admission to schools. He refused to sign.
Ms. Na Shuchun and Ms. Dong Lifeng in Zhangbao Group, Fanjiashan Village, Beijingzi Town, were harassed on September 22, 2020. The head of Zhangbao Group called Ms. Na’s son and told him that the brigade security official asked his mother to sign paperwork.
Chen Wen, from the Beijingzi Town Political and Legal Affairs Committee, and an officer from the Beijingzi Police Station brought printed sheets and pen and asked Ms. Na to sign. They also said, they would cross off her name if she signed, otherwise it would adversely impact her children.
A female staff member of the town government and Zhang Zhongwei, a police officer, went to Ms. Li Ling’s home on September 24, 2020. They asked her to sign statements renouncing Falun Gong. They threatened that they would terminate her child’s subsistence allowance if she did not sign. Ms. Li did not give in.
Three people from the town government and police station went to Ms. Cai Shuli’s home and harassed her on August 10, 2020. They asked her whether she posted the “Falun Dafa is Great” posters on the telephone pole behind her house. They said if she did not post it, she should simply sign the paperwork, which she rejected.
Officers from the Yangguanlin Town Police Station, Fengrun District, went to Mr. Liu Hanliang’s home in Shanggezhuang Village at around 10 a.m. on September 24, 2020. They asked him whether he still practiced Falun Gong. Mr. Liu told them that it was not illegal to practice Falun Gong, and they left.
Officers from the Qingquan Town Police Station and community personnel knocked on the doors of Falun Gong practitioners at around 9 p.m. on October 18, 2020.
At some practitioners’ homes, over a dozen people forcibly broke in and looked around for things, and asked if there were any equipment and supplies in their homes. They asked practitioners to sign guarantee statements renouncing Falun Gong. Most family members resisted and drove these people away. Practitioners known to have been harassed are: Huang Simei, Cai Guilian, Hua Er, and Chen Haiguo.
On October 22, 2020, Chen, deputy Party secretary of the Discipline Inspection Commission of the Education Bureau, Shi Qiao, deputy director of the Office of Education Bureau, and other people went to Zhenghe Middle School and asked Mr. Liu Yonghong, a teacher, to write guarantee statements, which he rejected.
Ms. Zhang Yun was released on bail by Feng, an officer from the Dadong District Domestic Security Division, in September 2020.
Officers from the Xindong Police Station went to her home on October 22. They asked her to go with them. They stopped by the Dadong District Domestic Security Division to pick up some officers, and then went to the Yuhong District Procuratorate. Ms. Zhang realized that her case was turned over to the Procuratorate. After the prosecutor finished taking notes of the inquiry, Ms. Zhang refused to sign the transcript. She clarified the truth to the prosecutor instead. Finally the police brought her home.
People from the No.3 Bridge Police Station and Baichacun Community, Wenquan Sub-district, went to Mr. Yu Jinguang and Ms. Chen Fang’s home on the morning of October 20, 2020. The couple was not at home.
They coaxed and threatened Mr. Yu’s mother, saying that there was a zero-out campaign (a concerted drive to force practitioners on the CCP’s blacklist to renounce Falun Gong). They told her if she signed the statements, her children would not be adversely impacted.
That afternoon, a woman Wang called Mr. Yu to look for his wife to take a picture of her, which he rejected. Soon after, another man called him on the landline, which he firmly rejected again.
Ms. Liu Jie, 75, and Ms. Tang Lihua in Zhangqiu District were arrested by officers from the Chengguan Police Station when distributing Falun Gong informational desk calendars in Siuhuihui Village on October 24, 2020.
Ms. Liu was released that evening, and Ms. Tang was detained for nine days.
Since the harassment campaign launched in Qiliyi Community, Qinduankou Sub-district, Hanyang District, Ms. Gao Baoli has been harassed during the day and at night. She was demanded to make a voice recording to renounce Falun Gong.
Her husband Mr. Feng Jiwu, 74, was given a three-and-a-half-year prison term, and is currently held in the Fanjiatai Prison.
Ms. Gao lives alone. Those who harassed her did not find her during the day, so they knocked on the door at night. They did not even skip the Mid-Autumn Festival season around October 1. The harassment is still going on.
Two cars from the Jiacun Town Police Station blocked the two entrances of Ms. Liu Qiaozhen’s home respectively at around 10 a.m. on October 25, 2020. Ms. Liu was arrested, and her current whereabouts are unclear.
Ms. Li Juan in Jingzhi Town was arrested when distributing Falun Gong materials about a week ago. She was held in the Weifang City Detention Center.
Ms. Bu Rumei in Henglin Town, Economic Development Zone, was tried in Wujin District on October 23, 2020. She was given a one-year-and-six-month prison term.
Xiang Wancheng, Party secretary of Lishangtun Village, Men Yucheng, village security director, and Liu Wenfeng, in Daiwangguzhuang Town, went to the homes of practitioner Chen Fangjun (gender unknown) and Ms. Wang Xiuyun respectively on the morning of October 22, 2020. They forced the two practitioners to sign paperwork.
Zhang Zongshan, Party secretary of Shuihuopu Village, and Wang Shulei, village security director, went to the homes of Ms. Su Fengting and Ms. Zhao Shuqin respectively on the afternoon of October 22, 2020. They forced the two practitioners to sign a guarantee statement, which was rejected by them. The two practitioners also told them the facts about Falun Gong.
Qian Zhengtian and Zheng Chao from Mengyang Town Care Center called Ms. Li Jiaping’s son on October 20, 2020, and asked him to tell his mother to go to the center.
After she and her son got there, they forced Ms. Li to fingerprint paperwork, to slander Dafa and the founder of Falun Dafa. In the end, they forced her son to sign the paperwork.
Six or seven people including Zhu Jianying, deputy head of the Qianxi County Domestic Security Division, officer Zhang, and other officers from the Chengguan Police Station broke into Mr. Zhao Kuixiang’s home on October 19, 2020.
They took pictures of each room. One said, “ I am leaving my phone number, and if you have any information about Wang Zhixin, call me.” Mr. Zhao told them that he did not know where his daughter-in-law Ms. Wang was and would not call him.
After the officers from the Chengguan Police Station left, other people and deputy head Zhu continued to threaten Mr. Zhao, “I came out of the Criminal Investigation Division, and I have all methods at my disposal. I’m ruthless!” Ms. Wang’s husband and father-in-law have repeatedly told these people that they do not know where she is. Yet the family was tormented by repeated demands of finding Ms. Wang. Under tremendous pressure, Ms. Wang’s husband lost weight and became weak.
