(Minghui.org) I occasionally sell things at a local market. The other vendors are very nice. They help each other and the less fortunate, such as those vendors who are physically challenged. Their interactions have always been kind and harmonious.
One day, a man who recently moved from China set up a booth. His mindset was quite different; he was combative and criticized the other vendors' goods. He badmouthed the other vendors behind their backs. He even told customers they could only trust him and should only buy from him. His behavior was unbelievable to the other vendors. He provoked people to quarrel with each other. He forgot how the other vendors kindly helped him get started when he first came.
I offer the best quality goods, but he told everyone my items were of poor quality. He belittled me and tried to make me feel I shouldn't be there. I was surprised at how someone could blatantly make so many false claims. As a practitioner, it was a great cultivation opportunity.
From then on, I had an additional issue when I went there to sell—listening to the other vendors complain about this troublesome man. I understood he behaved this way because he came from China and was influenced by the CCP's (Chinese Communist Party) mentality of belittling others and sabotaging them. He simply didn't know how to get along with other people, or what society was like outside of China.
One day another vendor stood in front of my stall and complained about this troublesome man until all the customers left. Not only did he not sell anything himself, but he also blocked my stall and customers couldn't buy from me. The next day I brought a copy of Zhuan Falun and asked him to read the section “Transformation of Karma” in Lecture Four. I said it would help him have a better understanding of the situation.
The next time I saw him he looked relaxed. He said, “I don't think you were right to tell me to read only those pages. I think I should finish reading the entire book before I give it back to you.” I was so happy to hear that!
When I returned two weeks later, he returned the book to me. Although he didn't say he wanted to practice Falun Dafa, word spread that he had borrowed the book. Everyone knew there was a book called Zhuan Falun. Some knew a little about the contents and Falun Dafa, but I was not the one who talked about it.
What's even more amazing is that the man who had been causing all the trouble suddenly stopped coming. By the time I got Zhuan Falun back, he was gone. The atmosphere at our little market became happy and peaceful again.
On another note, I think that everything taking place in the current U.S. election is limited to only one level—there is a higher path. As long as we seek wisdom from the Fa, make use of this situation to help people improve spiritually, no matter how the situation changes, we can help people of the United States and the world better understand just how precious the truth and kindness and traditional values are.
