(Minghui.org) After the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) ordered the persecution of Falun Gong in July 1999, the Political and Legal Affairs Committee (PLAC), an extra-judiciary agency that oversees law enforcement and judiciary branches, was tasked with executing the persecution.
The PLAC launched a new “zero-out” campaign earlier this year to target every Falun Gong practitioner on the government’s blacklist in attempts to force them to renounce their faith.
Falun Gong, also known as Falun Dafa, is a mind-body practice based on the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance. As China's Constitution protects citizens' freedom of belief, and there is no legal basis for the persecution of Falun Gong, many practitioners and their families have firmly resisted the latest rounds of harassment during the zero-out campaign.
Ms. Meng Fengqiu is a resident of Shenyang City, Liaoning Province. At noon on October 31, 2020, a community worker called her husband and asked him where she was.
Ms. Meng’s husband refused to provide any information about her and asked the worker, “What wrongdoings did she do? Did she steal, or rob anybody?”
Back in August, a woman also called to harass Ms. Meng’s parents-in-law. Her brother-in-law called the district staff and told them to stop harassing his parents. “Don’t you have other things to do? Why do you keep bothering elderly people in their 80s and 90s?”
Ms. Tao Yuqing lives in Shulan City, Jilin Province. Police called her father-in-law and asked him to persuade her to give up practicing Falun Gong. He refused to comply.
The police then went to her husband’s workplace and asked him to videotape Ms. Tao. Her husband also rejected the request.
Ms. Ma Baiou is from Dingzhou City, Hebei Province. She was taking care of her granddaughter at home on October 20, 2020, when several officers came to harass her.
Chen Liang, the head of the Haotouzhuang Township Police Substation, said, “Go to the township office in a couple of days. Do not have us look for you again.”
Ms. Ma said, “We follow the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance. We are trying to be better people. Why are you afraid of having more good people?”
A few days later, Bai Zhilong, a village security officer, showed up at Ms. Ma’s home and asked her to go with him. She refused. Bai said, “I have done a lot of this (persecuting Falun Gong practitioners). I am not afraid of meeting with karmic retribution.”
Bai brought two other people to Ms. Ma’s home on October 30, ordering her to sign a statement to give up Falun Gong. Ms. Ma said, “I will not cooperate with you. Falun Gong teaches people to strive to improve themselves. It has spread to over 100 countries and regions. When the truth prevails, this is the evidence of your involvement in persecuting good people. You are harming yourself. Wouldn’t you want to have a good future?” The other two people found an excuse and left immediately.
Ms. Liu Guoying is from Pengzhou City, Sichuan Province. A policeman surnamed Tang from the Lichun Police Substation called Ms. Liu on September 16, 2020, asking to have a conversation with her. She refused. Later, Tang called and harassed her and her children multiple times.
Tang asked to meet with Ms. Liu at Pengzhou Garden on September 30. When Ms. Liu arrived in the afternoon, two policemen, with one surnamed Qiu, greeted her. They wanted to take a picture of Ms. Liu, but she stopped them.
Ms. Liu told them that because of her practicing Falun Gong, all the diseases she'd suffered from before disappeared. As she was talking, the police still took pictures of her. She asked them to delete the pictures, but they refused.
Ms. Wang Shuqing is from Fengcheng City, Liaoning Province.
Zheng Guicheng, the head of the village, and a police officer called Ms. Wang’s nephew and asked him to call Ms. Wang’s son to come out and meet with them. They took out a “statement” and asked Ms. Wang’s son to sign it on behalf of his mother to renounce Falun Gong. Ms. Wang’s son refused and said, “My mother follows the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance. I will not sign anything.”
Yang Guang, deputy head of Fenghuangcheng District, Fengcheng City, Liaoning Province, along with Dongcheng District secretary Zhou and a police officer went to Ms. Jiang Hong’s home in the morning on October 27, 2020. Only Ms. Jiang’s daughter was home. They asked her to sign the statement to renounce Falun Gong for her mother, but she refused.
Ms. Jiang’s daughter said, “Falun Gong cured my mother’s diseases. How can she not practice it?” When Yang Guang attempted to force her to sign the statement, she said, “You do not have the right to force me to sign it.” She also shared that Falun Gong does not get involved in politics. It’s the Chinese Communist Party that initiated the persecution, and citizens have the right to voice their concerns.
Just then, Ms. Jiang came home. Yang asked her to sign the statement renouncing Falun Gong. Ms. Jiang said, “No, I will not sign it. If I sign it, it would not do any good to you.” She then clarified the facts about Falun Gong to them.
The next day, Yang and Zhou went to Ms. Jiang’s granddaughter’s workplace to harass her and threatened that it would impact her future if she didn’t sign the statement for Ms. Jiang. The granddaughter also refused to comply.
A woman with the last name of Chen from Fengcheng City, Liaoning Province called Mr. Ye Zhigang’s wife on the morning on October 10, 2020, claiming that she was working on the census and asked her to fill out some forms.
Mr. Ye’s wife went to the office and filled out the form in the afternoon. Then Chen asked her to sign statements on Mr. Ye’s behalf to give up Falun Gong. Mr. Ye’s wife said, “He did not do any bad deeds. Why would I sign anything? My husband said that nobody has the right to sign anything for him.”
Lin Song, the district deputy head of Fenghuangcheng District, Fengcheng City called Mr. Ye’s wife on the morning on October 28 and asked her to go to her office. When Mr. Ye’s wife arrived in the afternoon, Lin Song took her to the office of the district head, Yang Guang.
Yang asked her to sign again. And Mr. Ye’s wife refused. Yang threatened that the police might go after them soon.
