(Minghui.org) Imprisoned for her faith in Falun Gong, a Shandong woman started another round of hunger strike to protest the mistreatment shortly after she ended one that lasted for a year.
Falun Gong, also known as Falun Dafa, is a spiritual discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.
Ms. Bi Jianhong, a resident of Yantai City, Shandong Province, was sentenced to 12 year following her arrest on October 15, 2006. She was twice released on medical parole, first in November 2009 and then in March 2011, after being tortured to the brink of death for refusing to renounce her faith.
Her second medical parole came only two month after she was sent back to the prison. She was tortured to the point of having multiple organ failures and in critical condition.
Ms. Bi was taken back into custody at Shandong Women's Prison to finish serving her time, four days after she was arrested again on October 30, 2018. She began a hunger strike on the day after her latest arrest.
In the prison, Ms. Bi was forced to sleep on the floor, which caused her legs to become paralyzed. She had to move around in a wheelchair. She was sent to the prison hospital three months later when she became too weak.
Ms. Bi resumed eating in October 2019 and began to recover and regain her ability to walk. However, the prison guards and the inmates that monitored her began to mistreat her again while she was still in the hospital, forcing her to start another hunger strike.
The mistreatment continued after she was sent back to the prison. She wasn’t allowed to take showers and the three inmates monitoring her often beat her. She is now experiencing intense back pain.
