(Minghui.org) A family in Tongliao City, Inner Mongolia, has suffered unimaginable persecution for their faith in Falun Gong under the Chinese Communist regime.
Falun Gong, also known as Falun Dafa, is an ancient spiritual discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.
The son was forced to divorce and not allowed to see his daughter. He is currently on a hunger strike and being tortured while serving a seven-year term. His mother, 79, is serving an eight-year term after having being incarcerated for 12 years. Grief-stricken, the father passed away at the age of 85. The parents’ other children have also been arrested, detained, and abused for their shared faith.
Mr. Wang Jun is from a family of Falun Gong practitioners. His father, mother, elder sister and elder brother all started to practice Falun Gong before the persecution began in July 1999. He took up the practice in 2008 while trying to rescue his mother, who was unlawfully sentenced to seven years in prison for refusing to give up the practice.
He was married and had a young daughter. They were living out of town at that time. However, his mother-in-law, out of fear of being implicated, forced the couple to divorce. His wife took their daughter away and she was not even allowed to visit him.
Mr. Wang and his mother Ms. Tang Liwen were arrested in 2015. They were put on trial in September 2016. Mr. Wang was given seven years and his mother eight years. He was transferred to Baoanzhao Prison, while Ms. Tang was taken to Hohhot Women’s Prison. The authorities would not let him appeal the verdict.
Like many other Falun Gong practitioners, they are both being subjected to cruel torture and maltreatment.
Mr. Wang went on a hunger strike on August 17, 2019, demanding that the prison guards return his Falun Gong books. The deputy head of the prison put him in solitary confinement three days later. When he was carried out on August 27, he was tied up in confining clothes, and his head was down. It’s not clear if he is still on a hunger strike.
Mr. Wang’s father, Mr. Wang Jiuwu, was a retired director in the foreign trade sector. He practiced Falun Gong for nearly 20 years, during which time he enjoyed very good health and never needed to take any medication.
When Mr. Wang’s mother was sentenced to prison in 2008, his father was almost 80. The old man traveled over a thousand miles to visit his wife, but the guards just took the things he had brought with him and then drove him out, even though he begged to see his wife, even just a glance. He returned home brokenhearted.
Mr. Wang’s father was already 85 when he and his mother were arrested again in 2015. To try to secure their release, the man spoke to people in the local police station, the procuratorate, and the court. He also hired two lawyers to defend Mr. Wang and his wife.
When news came that both his son and his wife, then 76, were sentenced to prison in September 2016, the old man could no longer bear the pain. He collapsed three months later and could not eat or drink. When he was conscious, he said with tears in his eyes, “They are so cruel, so heartless......”
The elderly Mr. Wang passed away on June 5, 2017, leaving behind at home his older son, who suffers from mental illness and cannot take care of himself.
Mr. Wang’s mother, Ms. Tang Liwen, used to work as a deputy section head in a metal recycling company in Tongliao City. She had breast cancer many years ago and had to have one breast removed in 1986. A year later, the other breast had to be removed. Due to poor health, she had to take early retirement at the age of 45.
Ms. Tang took up Falun Gong in 1997, and very soon her health problems disappeared, including rheumatism, severe gastric atrophy, uterine tumors, and so on. Having seen the incredible benefits of the practice, her family members also started the practice.
Before the persecution started, they enjoyed a very peaceful and happy life. Local practitioners studied the Falun Gong books together at her home and did the exercises in a nearby park. Ms. Tang and her family always played the exercise music. Many people joined them.
After the persecution started in July 1999, Ms. Tang was illegally arrested six times. Her home was searched and ransacked numerous times by the police, and her family lost personal belongings worth tens of thousands of yuan.
She was sent to a forced labor camp first for two years and then for three years. When she was sentenced to seven years in prison in 2008, her 90-year-old mother cried every day and eventually became blind. The old lady passed away while Ms. Tang was still in jail.
To try to force her to tell them her computer password, Domestic Security Division officers tortured her. Among other things, they made her carry a large plank on her back and handcuffed her to a metal pipe so that she could neither stand up nor sit down. She was bent over for many days and deprived of food. They also force-fed her unknown substances. When she could no longer take the abuse, they took her to the hospital and injected her with unknown drugs, causing her to become incontinent.
While she was in prison, Ms. Tang was tortured physically as well as subjected to intense brainwashing to try to force her to give up her faith. They also tried to force her to slander Falun Gong.
On one occasion, when the pain was unbearable, she shouted, “Falun Dafa is good!” Wang Li, the division head of the detention center, then beat her until she passed out. A few of her teeth were knocked out while the roots still remained in her gums. Her hair was pulled out in fistfuls.
For a long time, she vomited blood and was put in heavy shackles for half a month. She was also tied to the death bed in a spread-eagle position for nine days and eight nights in a row, until her whole body spasmed in pain and she lost consciousness.
She is now serving another eight years in Hohhot Women’s Prison. The guards force her to work in a workshop to loosen scarf tassels. She has to work over 12 hours a day and has hardly any time for lunch.
Mr. Wang’s sister, Ms. Wang Ting, was followed by the police in 2000. She was scared to live by herself, so she went to stay with her step-brother. The police then followed her to her brother's place. To keep from causing her brother any trouble, she left, but the police went into her brother's home the next day and ransacked it.
Her brother was so angry at the police that he passed out on the spot. He was resuscitated in the hospital but was no longer able to work due to the mental trauma. His family was deeply in debt and his parents had to sell a property to help them pay off their debts.
Ms. Wang was later arrested and sent to Tumuji Forced Labor Camp, where she was forced to endure high-pressure brainwashing.
Even after she renounced Falun Gong when she could no longer take any more pain, the police didn’t let her go. They forced her to say things against her conscience on Inner Mongolian TV to defame Falun Gong. They also included the so-called “transformation” materials that she wrote under pressure in a book in order to confuse and brainwash other practitioners.
She recently developed cerebral thrombosis and is in a very difficult situation, with her father’s tragic death, her mother and brother still in jail, and her other brother’s medical problems.
Mr. Wang Jun’s other brother, Mr. Wang Bo, was traumatized after being bullied and humiliated at school. He became schizophrenic and had to quit school.
Each time the police ransacked their home, he was so scared that he cowered in a corner and didn't dare move. He’s had to be hospitalized a number of times as a result of such traumatic episodes.
