(Minghui.org) For the last four years I've made phone calls to law enforcement officers in China to ask them to stop participating in the persecution of Falun Dafa. Having been influenced by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), their replies are often rude, arrogant, and profane. This has tested my xinxing (mind nature), and I treat every phone call as an opportunity to improve.
Master said:
“In other words, think about why so many high-level beings dared to take such a perilous risk and come to the Three Realms. They are gods, so how could we not save them? Didn't they come to obtain the Fa? If you look at it from another perspective, wasn't their bravery in coming here a way of validating the Fa-rectification and placing their hope in the Fa-rectification? That's why I have said that we cannot leave them behind, and that we must save them and think of ways to save them! Even though they may be confused at the moment, or they may have lost their capacity to recognize truth or reality, owing to their concepts being warped by the Party culture over time, we still have to find ways to save them.” (“Teaching the Fa at the 2005 Manhattan International Fa Conference,” Collected Fa Teaching, Vol. V)
Even though some people swear at me or refuse to listen, I don't want to give up on them. Last March, I began noting the phone numbers of those who wouldn’t listen so that I could make follow-up calls.
I talked to one officer in Anhui Province for 12 minutes. I had a feeling that he was in charge of the local brainwashing centers. He kept repeating CCP propaganda. I knew that if he didn't understand the truth, he could pollute many other people, so the call wasn’t just for his sake.
He said that Falun Dafa practitioners were anti-China, so I told him, “Most practitioners are Chinese. I love China as much as you do, but I don't love the corrupt CCP. The Party is not China.”
He said the Party paid his salary, so he needed to serve it. Every time he brought up an objection, I clarified the facts. Finally he said he had to leave but could talk the next day. I phoned him throughout the following days, and each time we talked for a few minutes. We're still talking.
I also phoned a judge in a small town in Liaoning Province. The persecution of Falun Dafa in this area was very severe, so it was important for this judge to know the truth. During my first phone call, all he did was curse. After he hung up, I called him back. Each time he began cursing as soon as he picked up the phone. I called him every few days. The first eight times, he cursed at me just like the first time. After the ninth phone call, he didn't curse; instead, he began to listen. I've now called him 14 times, and we’re still talking.
I've held onto the phone numbers of 70 people who initially refused to listen to the facts. I call them in between the calls I make to others.
In 2019, through making phone calls and solidly cultivating myself, my xinxing has greatly improved. I used to get impatient when people I called began repeating CCP propaganda—I felt that the person was hopeless. Now, I'm able to maintain my xinxing and remain unmoved. I don't have any negative thoughts about them. Instead, I quietly send forth righteous thoughts to clear out the interference behind them. I know that each person is precious.
Before, when people verbally abused me or were rude, I felt uncomfortable. Now I'm no longer moved. I can feel that my compassion has grown, and I want to save them. I know I've improved in terms of forbearance too.
I once called the deputy mayor of a large city where the persecution was severe. I told him that I was calling him because he'd committed crimes and that in June 2019, an independent tribunal in London made the judgment that the CCP harvests organs from living Faun Gong practitioners. The mayor asked me to repeat what I said, and he listened carefully.
I said, “Mayor, you are working for this criminal Party. Many Falun Dafa practitioners have been persecuted in your city. In the near future, when the world holds government officials responsible for the persecution, do you understand what will happen to you? I want to help you. It's not too late to quit the Party. Don't be held responsible for its crimes.”
He said, “I know what you say about the persecution is true.” I told him millions of people around the world practice Falun Dafa. He said he wanted to read Dafa books but didn’t know where to find them. I told him that Zhuan Falun had been translated into more than 40 languages and he could download it from the website. I then gave him the website address and told him how to break through the internet firewall.
I explained why Chinese Communist Party members need to quit. I felt that he really understood, so I offered to help him quit. He happily exclaimed, “Yes! I want to quit it!” I was really pleased for him.
I feel so honored to be a Dafa practitioner during the Fa-rectification period. The people I call give me opportunities to improve. Their speech and behavior are like mirrors reflecting my shortcomings. When they curse at me, I see my competitiveness, jealousy, and hatred; when they repeat the Party's propaganda, I see the Party culture in me that I need to get rid of.
I live in a small town and take language classes at a local school. Students come from many countries; most are Muslims from the Middle East. Although I cannot clarify the truth to them in detail, I give them materials in their own language.
We often have discussions on different topics such as how to improve physical and mental health, and I bring up Falun Dafa. In my writing class, I wrote about the beauty of Dafa and the brutality of the persecution. I also gave a copy of the Nine Commentaries on the Communist Party to my teacher.
During a group discussion, I told the other students how practicing Falun Dafa benefits one's body and mind. They wanted to learn the exercises. Everyone was interested, so the teacher asked me to teach the whole class. One Russian student suggested that we practice the exercises every day. The teacher and all the students agreed, so from then on we’ve practiced one set of exercises each day.
Before my graduation ceremony, the teacher asked if I could sing a song in Chinese at the ceremony. I didn't completely understand what she said due to my poor English. I thought that many students would sing and this was a good opportunity to clarify the truth, so I accepted her invitation. She asked me to send her the musical score so she could play the piano as I sang. She said, “Since you'll be the only one singing at the ceremony, we need to practice a lot.” My heart skipped a beat when I heard this, but it was too late to say no.
I felt nervous—I didn't know how to sing. I grew up during the CCP's Cultural Revolution, so I never took any music lessons. I thought about giving up, but I knew that I shouldn't. The whole school knew that I practice Falun Dafa. As a practitioner, I should keep my promises. I finally chose to sing “Be Saved.”
Many students and faculty members attended the ceremony. I knew that they all wanted to hear the Dafa song. The hall was packed, and people even stood in the aisle. When it was my turn to sing, I was calm. I clearly felt that Master was helping me. The audience applauded warmly. The teachers who knew me hugged and congratulated me.
I knew they were touched by the lyrics of the Dafa song rather than my singing. I thanked Master for the help that enabled a person who had never sung before to put on a good performance.
This experience taught me a lesson: as long as a practitioner walks on a righteous path with a selfless heart and the wish to save people, nothing is impossible. During this process, I eliminated fear, pride, pursuit of fame, and laziness.
2019 has been an extraordinary year. Master said, “I can tell you explicitly that early on I had planned on ending the persecution this year (warm applause), at the twenty-year mark.” (Fa Teaching at the 2019 New York Fa Conference)
I know that time is limited. I will cherish the time to do the three things well and cultivate diligently.
