(Minghui.org) As of April 8, 2020, the CCP virus (Wuhan coronavirus, or COVID-19) pandemic has infected over 1.5 million people in over 200 countries with a death toll of nearly 90,000.
From governments to individual citizens, many countries, including the United Kingdom, the United States, Australia, and others, have been taking action to seek justice against the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) for its cover-up and misinformation that has allowed the virus to ravage the world.
MP in the U.K.: High Price of Yielding to Communist China
“These public abattoirs were behind the SARS outbreak in 2002 and have now produced Covid-19. Yet the Beijing government has done nothing to abolish these 'wet' markets that threaten so much of humanity,” wrote Tom Tugendhat, Member of the U.K. Parliament on April 4 in the Daily Mail, “We don't know how many millions will eventually be affected by the coronavirus, but we do know the outbreak was predicted. And that we are all paying the price for Beijing's decision to ignore the science, prioritise trade – and put the rest of the world's health at risk.”
Tugendhat said now it is time to make a change. “Like all authoritarian regimes, the Chinese government is essentially weak,” he added. “It relies on a toxic brew of lies and fear to maintain power and control over its people and this is why it has hidden the truth from the moment the virus first hit.”
He considers the pandemic a wake-up call: “Our economic dependence on China and kowtowing to its government comes at a very high price.”
“This is the fault of the CCP”
“Global lawsuits against China for ‘patent breaches’ of the International Health Regulations over its handling of COVID-19 could run to at least £3.2 trillion from just the nations of the G7, according to a newly released report,” according to a report recently released by the Henry Jackson Society (HJS).
The report said that the CCP’s “early handling of the disease and failure to adequately report information to the WHO breached Articles Six and Seven of the International Health Regulations [IHRs], a Treaty to which China is a signatory and legally obliged to uphold. These breaches allowed the outbreak to rapidly spread outside Wuhan, its place of origin.”
Furthermore, the CCP “failed to proscribe avoidable vectors of lethal zoonotic (animal-originated) viral infection, instead actively promoting the massive proliferation of dangerous viral host species for human consumption in breach of Article 12 of the International Covenant on Economic, Social, and Cultural Rights.”
Matthew Henderson and other authors of the report emphasized that “this report apportions no blame to the people of China for what has happened. They are innocent victims, like the rest of us. This is the fault of the CCP.”
U.S. Congress Resolutions and Class-action Lawsuits
According to a press release by the U.S. Congress on March 24, 2020, Congresswoman Elise Stefanik (R-NY) is introducing a Resolution in the House urging investigation into the Chinese Communist Party’s cover-up of the early spread of the coronavirus pandemic. “The Resolution calls on China to pay back all nations impacted due to China’s intentional, early coverup of the deadly virus,” wrote the press release.
Stefanik remarked, “The Communist government of China knowingly withheld critical information needed to combat the spread of the Chinese-born COVID-19 and to this day continues to spread lies and disinformation on the origin of the deadly virus.
“This Resolution calls for China to provide compensation for the harm, loss, and destruction their arrogance brought upon the rest of the world. Simply put – China must, and will, be held accountable.”
Senator Josh Hawley (R-MO) has introduced companion legislation in the Senate: “Since day one, the Chinese Communist Party intentionally lied to the world about the origin of this pandemic. The CCP was aware of the reality of the virus as early as December but ordered laboratories to destroy samples and forced doctors to keep silent. It is time for an international investigation into the role their cover-up played in the spread of this devastating pandemic. The CCP must be held to account for what the world is now suffering.”
Several class action lawsuits have been filed by law firms against the CCP. One example is lawyer Larry Klayman and his group, Freedom Watch, who filed a complaint in federal court in Texas seeking at least $20 trillion from the Chinese government because of its “callous and reckless indifference and malicious acts.”
Similarly, The Berman Law Group filed a class action federal lawsuit against the People’s Republic of China and several other Chinese government entities for mishandling the outbreak of COVID-19.
“The blame for misrepresenting the nature of the coronavirus to the WHO lies at the highest levels of the Chinese government,” wrote U.S. Congressman Chris Smith recently. He suggested holding the CCP accountable based on the Global Magnitsky Act as well as its poor human rights record.
“When this coronavirus crisis has passed, there needs to be a reckoning,” Smith wrote.“This means overcoming partisan finger-pointing and looking to who bears the ultimate responsibility for the pandemic – the government of the People’s Republic of China.”
Australian MP: “Communists Lied, People Died”
Malcolm Roberts, a member of the Australian Senate, posted on Twitter on March 31 demanding compensation from the CCP for the global COVID-19 damage. More than 117,000 people liked the tweet. On April 1, 2020, he posted another Tweet that said, “Communists lied, people died.”
South Australian Senator Alex Antic said the CCP must be held accountable for the coronavirus pandemic which has swept across the globe causing thousands of deaths and widespread economic ruin. “We all know that this virus emanated from Wuhan in China,” Antic told Sky News, on April 2. “In 2003, the SARS outbreak emanated in a very similar manner.”
Andrew Hastie and Anthony Byrne, Chair and Deputy Chair of the Parliamentary Joint Committee on Intelligence and Security, said elected officials would discuss how Australia works with China following the virus outbreak.
“The Australian people aren't mugs. They know how COVID-19 started and how the CCP lied about it,” Mr. Hastie said to the Daily Telegraph. “There has been a significant impact on the global supply chain, and responsibility of the CCP regarding the virus must be addressed,” Byrne added.
A Daily Mail article published on April 4 quoted NSW Liberal Dave Sharma, a former diplomat, as saying that China should be questioned about how they dealt with the killer virus and how they informed the rest of the world about it. In addition, Sharma felt that an investigation should also be launched into where the virus came from, how it left China, and if China put in the correct safety measures in place.
The same article also quoted several other politicians. “No one was fooled” by the communist party’s disinformation about the virus at the beginning of the outbreak, remarked Victorian Liberal Tim Wilson, who emphasized the regime would face serious consequences for the “pain inflicted on the world.”
Liberal Senator for Victoria James Paterson said, “We know where the virus came from and we won't forget it.” Victorian Labor MP Julian Hill considered the disaster similar to the Soviet Union’s Chernobyl. “China’s claim to be a responsible world leader cannot be accepted when these matters hang under a cloud,” added Amanda Stoker, a Liberal member of the Australian Senate.
Labor Senator Kimberley Kitching told Sky News that it is “unfortunate” that China covered up cases of the novel coronavirus when early data from Wuhan had indicated the disease may have been known to Chinese authorities as early as in October 2019.
Former Senator Cory Bernardi said, “We're all paying the price” for the Communist Party of China's coronavirus “cover up,” adding the regime’s message doesn’t have any basis in truth at all.
Victorian MP Bernie Finn said that the CCP is “directly responsible” for Australians who have died from the CCP virus. He called on Australians to take a “firm and principled stand.”
Moral Degeneration and Chaos
Australian MP George Christensen, Chair for the Joint Standing Committee on Trade and Investment Growth, has called for China to pay reparations for the global spread of the coronavirus and urged investigations into reports that COVID-19 originated in a Wuhan laboratory.
He said the South China University of Technology published a report in February saying the virus may have originated in a research facility less than 300 metres from the Huanan Seafood Wholesale Market in Wuhan, reported the Daily Mail on March 31.
During a recent interview with Minghui.org, he called for the establishment of a Commission of Inquiry to prevent such a tragedy from happening again.
A study by the University of Southampton in the U.K. examined non-pharmaceutical interventions (NPIs) in response to the new coronavirus (COVID-19) in China. The study shows that a range of early, coordinated, and targeted measures are needed to help significantly reduce its spread. “If interventions in the country could have been conducted one week, two weeks, or three weeks earlier, cases could have been reduced by 66%, 86% and 95% respectively—significantly limiting the geographical spread of the disease,” according to the report published on the university’s website on March 11.
Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison has taken part in an online coronavirus prayer group from his parliamentary office. Morrison asked people to pray for the country to stay “strong and united.” During the live-streamed prayer group, he prayed for the streets of Australia to be restored with people soon. “‘My faith gives me an enormous encouragement in how I can make those decisions and do that in the best way I can,” he said according to a report from The Guardian.
Christensen agrees with the importance of praying, saying that is a way to connect with the higher power. Things happen for a reason and much of the chaos in today’s world may come from people’s moral degeneration. He believes that sincerely seeking help from the Creator will bring blessings.
International Response
Disappointed by the WHO's siding with the CCP, which led to the coronavirus pandemic, the U.K. Parliament has been proposing new measures for “new structures to respond more effectively to the next pandemic.”
Tom Tugendhat, chair of the Foreign Affairs Committee, and his colleagues published a report calling for a “G20 for Public Health” to “ensure that co-operation between expert researchers across the globe can flourish, even in the absence of united political leadership. Such a framework should be science-led, with participation contingent on honest co-operation in the open and transparent sharing of public health data.”
The committee blamed China for hampering the response to COVID-19. “The only way we can overcome a global crisis on the scale of coronavirus is by working together as a global community,” said Tugendhat. “Our best weapons against this virus are science, evidence and co-operation. This may seem obvious to most, yet instead of sharing the information needed to help tackle the pandemic, some of the most powerful countries in the world have actively tried to suppress and manipulate it.”
“I look around me and I see people in a frenzy and in a panic, the enemy has arrived at our front door-step and what’s even worse is that it’s invisible. Everyone's lives have been affected, including mine,” wrote Canadian freelance journalist Will Acri on April 4 in Bradford Today.
He said last time something like this happened was during World War II, when people went to Britain to help preserve the free world, and auto-factories had to re-tool to help fight against evil. “When the war ended, the surviving Nazis were put on trial and convicted of being murderers and criminals. It was in 1946 after the Nuremberg Trials everyone who lost a loved one finally had some closure.
“It was a unified voice of justice that rang throughout the free world and I ask, where is that voice now? People want to live through this but don’t seem to think about what world they are going to be living in and what world they are leaving for their children.”
Acri said that the CCP has been the source of three viruses in the past 20 years and that this coronavirus is the most lethal one. He said the regime “is not only guilty of letting this virus spread but also guilty of trying to cover it up.” He said the CCP needs to be held accountable to “prevent things like COVID-19 from happening again.”
